Ice Village Alpeniglu Kid Resume

Alpeniglu, a village made of snow and ice, presents a wonderful opportunity to visit the world of ice and snow as a family. The village consists of 18 igloos, hosts an array of displays of ice and snow sculptures, and is located in the Brixen im Thale 150 m from the upper Hochbrixen station. Getting to the village isn’t difficult at all. 8 minutes on the lift and you’re there.

The material that all the compositions are made of is crystal clear ice produced on site. Huge ice blocks produced using special techniques and weighing 120 kg apiece are used not only for constructing the sculptures. They also make up the stools, counters, tables, plates, and other elements that are present in the village. Special colorful lighting of the sculptures and the houses themselves creates an unusual atmosphere that adds to the visual effect.

Excursions start every half hour in Alpeniglun several languages on which guides tell about the process of creating the ice, the sculptures on display, and about the craftsmen who create these masterpieces. Every year the theme of the compositions changes.

For guests that would like to stay the night in Alpeniglu there is special accommodation in igloos that house 2-8 people. There is no need to fear the cold- all the rooms are well insulated with reindeer fur, and the guests sleep in comfortable sleeping bags. This is not a cheap experience- a room will set you back 185-240 Euros depending on the type of room. The sensation, however, is indescribable.

In addition to the snow hotel, tourists will find a chapel, an igloo shop, a kid’s cabin, and of course an array of unique sculptures. There is also an ice bar called Eristoff where, in spite of the cold, you can relax and order a drink in a crystal clear glass made of ice.
