African American History Summer Camp

Thanks to the Honorable Lucille Whipper and the Avery Normal Institute alumni, this significant heritage was preserved through the establishment of the Avery Research Center in 1985 in partnership with the College of Charleston. In the same spirit of preservation, the camp utilizes the Avery Research Center, a vast repository boasting nearly 4000 primary and secondary-source materials.
