Austin School of Film offers one-week, hands-on summer camps in filmmaking and animation tailored for middle school and high school students. The camp creates a welcoming, creative studio atmosphere where young creators learn real-world media arts skills — from scriptwriting and shooting to editing, animation, and post-production. The small-group format (10–15 campers per session) ensures each child receives personal attention and opportunities to experiment, collaborate, and grow.
What makes this camp special is its accessible yet professional approach. Campers use real cameras, lights, digital editing tools, and animation software — the same kinds of tools used in real film and media projects. Through guided instruction and creative freedom, students learn everything from character design and storytelling to cinematography, sound, and editing. By the end of the week, they complete their own short film or animation project and present it to family and friends.
The camp is ideal for kids roughly in middle school through high school — especially those interested in art, storytelling, technology, or media production. Because no previous experience is required and sessions run at beginner to intermediate level, this camp welcomes both first-time creatives and those curious to deepen their skills. If your child enjoys drawing, storytelling, collaboration, or simply being creative, Austin School of Film delivers a productive, inspiring summer experience.

Austin School of Film’s summer program gives students the chance to complete a full creative production cycle in just one week. Each day blends learning with hands-on creation as campers build their own film or animation from concept to final edit. Creativity, teamwork, and technical skills are emphasized, helping campers gain confidence as they explore the world of digital media. The week finishes with a screening or showcase where students present their completed projects.
Campers explore production, design, storytelling, and technical skills. Animation camps focus on character design and digital drawing workflows, while filmmaking camps emphasize camera use, sound, editing, and directing. Occasional guest visits from local filmmakers or animators offer real-world insight and inspiration.
Camps run on a set daytime schedule with a mid-day lunch break.
