Camp Good News Forestdale

Camp Good News Forestdale

Forestdale, MA, USA

Overview

For over eight decades, Camp Good News has been a bastion of hope and learning for young hearts and minds. Founded in 1935 by W. Wyeth and Grace Willard, both respected scholars, this traditional camp has been a family affair from the start. Even when Dr. Willard was serving as a Naval Chaplain during the Second World War, the camp's lively spirit was kept alive under the careful direction of his wife, Grace. The Willard legacy didn’t stop there. The baton of leadership passed to their daughters, Faith and Hope, and now thrives in the hands of the third generation. This continuity breathes life into the camp’s rich history and ensures the core values are preserved. Camp Good News is not just about fun and games; it’s a camp with a cause. In 1975, Faith Willard co-founded The Widow's Friend, an initiative supporting widows, orphans, and the destitute in Bangladesh. Each summer, campers rally to raise funds for these projects, proving that even the youngest hearts can make a significant impact. While rooted in Christian tradition, the camp welcomes children from all religious and non-religious backgrounds. The mission of Camp Good News is to foster a compassionate and non-judgmental environment. Each day, campers engage in thoughtful discussions, exploring the profound relevance of the Bible in today’s culture. Sundays at Camp Good News bring a sense of unity and reflection, with chapel services featuring singing and heartfelt sharing. The camp's leadership encourages the pursuit of worthy and unselfish life goals, and instills a deep compassion for the less fortunate. At Camp Good News, fun meets purpose, creating an unforgettable summer experience.
