Camp Nakanawa

Camp Nakanawa

Crossville, TN, USA

Overview

Where tradition meets adventure, Camp Nakanawa awaits, sitting high upon Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau. Breathable mountain air and mild 75-degree weather create an outdoor paradise perfect for your young explorers. From the thrill of ziplining to the meditative artistry of painting, the choices for discovery and fun are diverse and numerous at Nakanawa. A sparkling lake, affectionately named Lake Aloaloa, marks the heart of Nakanawa, with Junior Camp and Senior Camp poised on its opposing banks. Much like a beautiful cinema backdrop, rolling fields and picturesque forests spread over a vast 1000 acres, the namesake of Nakanawa. However, the scenic beauty is purely the wrapping paper to the true gift of the Nakanawa experience. People are the soul of this camp, from the dedicated camp directors to the carefully selected counselors and staff. Ann and Pepe Perron, the camp directors, make it their mission to preserve the cherished traditions of Nakanawa. Ann brings with her the wisdom of over 35 summers spent at Nakanawa, having been a camper and counselor herself prior to her director role. They strive to perpetuate Nakanawa as a sanctuary of beauty and wholesome fun. What truly sets Nakanawa apart is its legendary legacy. The love for Nakanawa has been continually relayed from mother to daughter, from counselor to camper, for more than fifty years. This strong sense of tradition enhances the camp culture, engraving every activity, every shared meal, every sing-along with a deeply ingrained sense of belonging and love. Remarkably special, Nakanawa is more than a camp - it's a summer home, a place to grow, to discover oneself, and to forge enduring friendships.
