Camp Shriver

Welcome to an oasis of inclusivity and fun, the Camp Shriver. This extraordinary camp, seated within the University of Massachusetts Boston, has been a beacon of joy and learning since 2006. Each summer, the camp throws open its gates to welcome a vibrant mix of children, aged 8-12, hailing from low-income families within the Boston area. The catch? Half the camp’s young attendees have intellectual or developmental disabilities, while the other half do not. Camp Shriver shatters traditional molds, discarding the norm of recreational programs that merely 'accept' children with disabilities. Instead, it revels in diversity, intentionally enrolling an equal number of children with and without disabilities. This harmonious blend of children creates an environment where every child can play, learn, and interact in meaningful ways with their peers, disability status notwithstanding.
