Big Bear Lake, CA, USA
Immerse your family in the rich tapestry of Cedar Lake Camp's storied past. This all-season hub, once a tranquil haven for grazing cattle, has transformed into a vibrant campsite that serves nearly 6,000 campers annually. The Bartlett brothers, who bought the land in 1922 with a grand vision, erected a 30-foot dam in 1929, giving birth to the 3½ acre Cedar Lake. As the camp's popularity soared, it welcomed hundreds of visitors daily during the summer and holiday seasons. The camp's host of activities cater to diverse interests. It's a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering canoeing, hiking, and sailing opportunities that are sure to create lasting memories. The camp is grounded in Christian values, infusing traditional camp activities with a sense of spirituality that resonates with many families. Despite its bustling atmosphere, Cedar Lake Camp retains the rustic charm that drew the Bartlett brothers to it almost a century ago. Its evolution from a cattle grazing land, to a tourist attraction, to a beloved camp, echoes in the laughter of the children who come to enjoy its offerings. Guy Bartlett, who took over the property from his father, had a vision to develop a resort. However, he chose to cultivate Cedar Lake as a go-to destination for families, even once charging a modest 25-cent admission fee. Just as Bartlett stocked the lake with fish, Cedar Lake Camp is now stocked with experiences that will delight every family member. Enjoy the tranquility of the lake, explore the trails, or participate in a variety of activities. Cedar Lake Camp - where history, nature, and fun intertwine.
