Welcome to the vibrant oasis of the Chicago Botanic Garden Summer: Leaders in Training camp. Here, young minds aged 13-15 will sprout leadership skills and cultivate a repertoire of life skills tailored for future endeavors. This two-week commitment provides an opportunity for the budding leaders to absorb invaluable knowledge every morning, and in the afternoon, they get to put these newfound skills into practice amidst the lush greenery of the camp. The Leaders in Training (LIT) program is an intensive journey into the world of leadership, communication, and self-discovery. With a focus on preparing for future job searches, taking leadership roles at school, and even college preparation, each LIT participant is carefully coached by the LIT coordinator on various aspects of life and leadership. Once the two weeks are up, the LITs have the chance to pay it forward and volunteer with the Chicago Botanic Gardens Camp, a testament to their growth and readiness to take on the world. Though the program prefers participants to sign up for two consecutive weeks, flexibility is provided to accommodate different schedules. With applications opening in December and interviews beginning in January, potential participants are given ample time to prepare and plan. A two-week confirmation period post-interview ensures a smooth transition into the program, while mandatory training in June sets the stage for the exciting summer ahead. This camp isn't just about learning and leading; it's about blooming into the best version of oneself. So, gear up for a summer filled with personal growth, life-changing experiences, and the unforgettable beauty of the Chicago Botanic Garden.
