Coastal Roots Farm Camp is an outdoor farm camp for children in TK through 5th grade, with a minimum age of 4. The program welcomes children of all backgrounds and uses the farm as a living classroom. Campers explore the natural world, the food system, and universally meaningful Jewish values through hands-on activities that feel both playful and purposeful.
The camp experience is rooted in real farm life. Children may visit chickens, harvest farm-fresh snacks, explore the garden, sing songs, make art, take part in science experiments, help with farm and garden tasks, and cook outdoors. The programming changes by age group so younger campers are not expected to do the same work as older children.
TK campers focus on developmentally appropriate nature exploration, stories, songs, science, art, garden exploration, and harvesting snacks. Kindergarten through 3rd-grade campers add outdoor cooking and farm maintenance. Older campers in 4th and 5th grade may take care of animals, work on engineering challenges, conduct science experiments, participate in sports and relay races, play games, and make art.
The camp works especially well for children who like being outside, touching soil, asking questions, cooking, exploring plants, and learning through movement rather than worksheets.

Coastal Roots Farm Camp is a day camp. Campers attend during the scheduled camp day and return home afterward. No overnight lodging, cabins, dorm rooms, hotel stays, or residential supervision are included.
The camp takes place entirely outdoors on an operational farm. That setting is a big part of the experience. Children are not moving through a standard classroom day. They are exploring gardens, farm learning spaces, outdoor activity areas, and hands-on projects connected to food and nature.
Regular camp hours vary by session. Some sessions run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, while others run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Extended care is available for an additional cost. Before Care runs from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM, and After Care is available until 5:00 PM.
Caregivers of Farm Camp registrants may also use The Hive coworking space during camp hours when the Farm is open for camp.
Farm Camp includes food-related learning, but it should not be understood as a standard meal-service camp. Campers harvest and make farm-fresh snacks as part of the program. The sample daily schedule includes a morning snack during small-group meeting time, followed later by lunch and free play.
Outdoor cooking is part of the programming for Kindergarten through 5th grade campers. Older campers may spend more time with outdoor cooking, farm tasks, and food-system learning. Extended Care includes a farm-fresh snack, along with time in the garden, art, games, and play.
Farm Camp takes place on an operational farm, so children need to follow adult directions and move safely through spaces where farm activity may also be happening. The camp uses age-appropriate programming and asks families of 4-year-old campers to consider whether the child can listen to adults, follow directions in a large group, use the bathroom independently, and stay outdoors for a full camp day.
The program is led by an education team with experience in outdoor education, farming, teaching, and youth programs. The camp team includes education managers, outdoor educators, a culinary educator, camp counselors, and seasonal educators. Camp leadership oversees program quality, safety compliance, staff supervision, and participant experience.
Farm Camp is fully outdoors, so children should be ready for sun, dirt, uneven outdoor spaces, active movement, and a full day in nature. This is especially important for younger campers. A 4-year-old should be able to stay engaged outside for several consecutive hours and use a public restroom independently.
Bathroom independence is an important readiness point. Accidents can happen, but campers are expected to be potty-trained, able to wipe themselves, and able to use the restroom without direct help.
The camp also notes accessibility accommodations. Families with accessibility questions can contact the camp team before enrollment to discuss the farm setting and the child’s needs.
Coastal Roots Farm Camp gives children a hands-on introduction to farming, food systems, nature, and outdoor learning. The daily experience blends farm exploration with art, science, cooking, songs, games, and garden work. Campers are grouped into age-appropriate programming, so a TK camper’s day looks gentler than a 5th grader’s day.
The youngest campers focus on nature exploration, stories, songs, science, art, garden time, and harvesting snacks. Kindergarten through 3rd grade campers add outdoor cooking and farm and garden maintenance. Campers in 4th and 5th grade take on more advanced activities, including animal care, engineering, science experiments, sports, relay races, games, and art.
The camp day also includes whole-group moments. Campers gather for a morning hello circle and an afternoon goodbye circle. These routines help create a sense of community and give the day a steady rhythm.
Camp operates entirely outdoors.
Campers should be able to follow adult directions in a large group.
