Founded in 1972, it offers engaging summer programs for middle and high school students passionate about marine science, mathematics, and STEM fields. Programs at Dauphin Island Sea Lab Middle School Program (1 Week) Focus: Hands-on field activities and exploration. Activities Include: Research boat trips aboard the Alabama Discovery. Marsh seining to study aquatic life. Beach walks to explore coastal habitats. Forest exploration to learn about local ecosystems. Goal: Introduce middle schoolers to marine science through interactive, outdoor learning. High School Program: Residential Marine Science Class (4 Weeks)  Cost: $3,000 Eligibility: Rising 9th–12th graders. Focus: In-depth academic and field-based exploration of marine science disciplines. Activities Include: Over 160 hours of supervised academic work. Lectures on topics like marine ecology, oceanography, and marine technology. Laboratory investigations and research projects.
