Overview
Whisk your children away to a horticultural haven this summer with Garden 'N Grow camp, an initiative of the renowned Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City (MGGKC). Here, young minds are encouraged to delve their hands into the soil, and cultivate a love for nature that will blossom into a lifelong passion.
At Garden 'N Grow, campers are not just attendees, they are trainees and interns, actively participating in the nurturing of plants and the understanding of the ecosystem. Affiliated with the University of Missouri Extension Master Gardener Program, the camp is steeped in the rich knowledge and expertise of its experienced gardeners, making it a fertile ground for learning.
Located in the Extension West Urban Region, encompassing Jackson, Clay, and Platte Counties, the camp welcomes children to join their community of dedicated gardeners. Whether your child is a budding botanist or just enjoys the great outdoors, the camp provides an immersive experience that fosters a sense of responsibility, patience, and wonder.
From seed to sprout, campers follow the journey of a plant, understanding the delicate balance of nature. They learn not just about gardening, but about the environment, ecology, and the joy of seeing their efforts bear fruit.
The camp also offers a progression system, from Master Gardener Trainee to Emeritus Master Gardener, allowing children to continually challenge themselves and grow in their horticultural journey. Not just a summer getaway, Garden 'N Grow could be the first step towards a deeper appreciation of nature and potentially, a green-thumbed future.
