Iowa Young Writers Studio

For the young wordsmiths in your family, the Iowa Young Writers' Studio offers a haven of creativity and literary exploration. Situated within the University of Iowa's acclaimed Magid Center for Undergraduate Writing, this program presents an opportunity for high school students to dive deep into the craft of creative writing. Summer at the Studio is a feast of words, with both in-person and online courses running in two sessions, one in June and another in July. The curriculum is more than a writing boot camp, it's a journey through the intricacies of fiction, poetry, and creative writing, with additional core courses in TV writing and playwriting. The guides on this journey? None other than graduates of the famed Iowa Writers' Workshop. The Studio's approach isn't just about creating, it's also about sharing. Along with the core courses, the Studio spices up the experience with readings by published writers, workshops touching on various aspects of craft, and discussions on subjects adjacent to writing.
