An eight-acre lake with a giant slide and rope swing gives young campers a distinctive place to spend time outdoors. At Ironwood Camps’ Junior Camp, children in grades 4–7 take part in a Christian overnight program at a desert campsite. Lake recreation is part of the experience, but the camp also focuses on encouraging children to serve others and put their faith into practice at home, at church, and in their communities. The stay brings those ideas to life as campers share activities, meals, and time together away from their usual routines.
Much of camp life happens with a cabin group led by a counselor. Groups join outdoor activities, share stories, and explore the lake’s slide and rope swing. Personal devotions offer time for Christian reflection, while campfires bring campers together each evening. The program balances active recreation with faith-centered moments, giving children different ways to participate throughout the stay. Counselors guide groups of seven to eight children, making the small-group structure an important part of the Junior Camp experience.
Living at camp adds another dimension. Campers stay in cabins and share meals at the Homestead dining facility, beginning with dinner on arrival day and finishing with breakfast before departure. The overnight format allows children to experience more than a single day of activities, from time with their cabin group to evening campfires. Junior Camp may appeal to families seeking a Christian program that combines outdoor recreation with personal devotion, or to children who enjoy water activities, group experiences, and the chance to take part in camp life alongside peers.
