The Japan America Society of Oklahoma, founded in 1975, is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening cultural, educational, and social ties between Japan and the United States in Oklahoma. Each summer, the society hosts a Japanese Camp where children and young people can explore the richness of Japanese culture. Camp participants enjoy Japanese language lessons that introduce them to speaking, writing, and everyday expressions.
They also experience calligraphy workshops, learning how to write with brush and ink in a traditional way. Fun activities such as origami and crafts help campers practice patience, creativity, and attention to detail. Music, games, and Japanese traditional dance bring the group together in an energetic and joyful way. The camp provides a hands-on experience that allows participants to discover both the history and the modern aspects of Japan. Above all, it creates a welcoming community where friendships are formed through a shared love of cultural exchange.
