Instead, their laughter and energy transformed the riverside spot into a dynamic playground. Mike Handell, originator and current director, started this venture when he was just 18. Having grown up on the Upper West Side, he not only witnessed the outstanding effect of sports on young lives but also experienced it firsthand. A young man with an old soul, Mike sought to extend the joy he discovered in community sports programs to the youngsters of the area.
