About Kids On Stage (KOS)
A performing arts program for youth and teens founded in 1987.
KOS is a community of dedicated professional artists and theater educators.
We believe everyone is a star, and every voice matters.
Our personalized, age-appropriate curriculum is thoughtfully adapted from musicals, plays, and stories to integrate all levels. Our programs promote:
Self-expression
Self-awareness
Self-esteem
Confidence
Actors collaborate as a team, brainstorm creatively, and expand their theater skills in a safe, supportive environment. In today’s tech-heavy world, our goal is to cultivate a love for traditional arts while helping kids build confidence, creativity, and life skills that extend far beyond the stage.
Are your camps & classes in person?
Yes. All camps and classes are held in person.
What are the camp hours?
(Hours are subject to change — please always check your session schedule for confirmation.)
Either 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (6 hrs) or 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (5 hrs) - unless otherwise noted
Can I show up without registering?
No, all participants must pre-register for any KOS program. We do not accept walk-ins.
Where are the camps located?
Pierson Rehearsal Hall/Stage
4th St., Santa Monica, CA 90401
More details will be provided after registration.
Pierson Hall is a large, open indoor space with a stage and a safe, enclosed outdoor courtyard. Bathrooms are located on the same level.
Note: Location may change due to theater conflicts; you will be informed in advance.
My child is new to theater. Is that an issue?
Not at all! KOS’s customized, age-appropriate curriculum welcomes all experience levels — from novice to advanced.
Can I stay for some or all of the camp?
No. We encourage actors to build connections independently with KOS directors and fellow students.
Rest assured, we will contact you immediately if any issues arise.
My child doesn’t read yet — is that a problem?
Not at all! Our teachers assist young actors so they feel confident rehearsing without a script. We also encourage fun, joyful practice at home with family members.
How are roles assigned?
Roles are thoughtfully assigned by our staff. Actors are not required to do cold readings or prepare memorized audition pieces.
KOS reserves the right to determine casting at our discretion.
Does the camp end with a presentation?
Most camps conclude with a presentation, typically on the last day or the day before the final day.
(Subject to change based on group dynamics, camp length, and type. Full details will be provided closer to camp dates.)
What if we can’t attend all the camp dates?
Please reach out! We’ll do our best to accommodate where possible.
What should my actor bring to camp?
Label all personal items with your child’s name.
Healthy snacks & lunch
Water bottle/drink
What should my actor wear to camp?
Comfortable, movement-friendly clothing (layers recommended)
Closed-toe, comfortable shoes (no flip-flops)
Where do I receive more information regarding the camp I registered for?
Once registered, you will receive a Welcome Info email before the first day — it will include emergency contact info (for use during camp hours only).
How do we get in touch with you in case of an emergency?
Communication is key! Feel free to reach out with any questions, needs, or issues right away.

This program runs entirely during the day, with campers heading home each afternoon. There is no overnight stay, and housing is not part of the Kids On Stage experience. The day-only format allows children to enjoy a full schedule of creative activities while maintaining their regular home routines.
Camp traditions are shaped by shared rehearsals, creative routines, and the collective excitement of preparing for performances. Campers experience a strong sense of group identity as they work together toward common goals.
The activities program centers on musical theatre training through hands-on participation. Campers take part in rehearsals, skill-building exercises, and group activities that support both performance skills and teamwork. Days are designed to balance focused practice with creative exploration.
Campers learn by doing—practicing scenes, songs, and choreography in a supportive group setting. Collaboration is key, with campers working together to build confidence and stage presence. Instructors guide the process while encouraging creativity and self-expression.
