Leading Note Studios San Marcos offers creative music and performance camps for children and teens, with summer options recommended for ages 4–15, depending on the camp. The lineup includes Intro to Music Camp for younger beginners, Rock Band Camp for kids ready to explore group music-making, and Musical Theatre Summer Camp for performers who want singing, acting, movement, and stage confidence.
The camp atmosphere is hands-on and studio-based. Campers are not expected to sit quietly while someone talks about music. They try instruments, sing, move, rehearse, and prepare to share what they have learned. Intro to Music Camp introduces piano, guitar, violin, drums, and vocals, with each day centered on a different instrument. Rock Band Camp adds a bigger group-performance feel, including improvisation, playing by ear, composition, duet playing, and coaching from experienced musicians.
Musical Theatre Summer Camp is built for young performers who enjoy the spotlight or want to get more comfortable on stage. Campers work on stage presence, vocal projection, clear speech, and traditional musical theatre dance techniques. The week concludes with a mini-production for family and friends.

Leading Note Studios San Marcos is a day camp program. Campers attend morning sessions and return home after camp. No overnight lodging, dorm rooms, cabins, hotel stays, or residential supervision are included.
The summer camp sessions run Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This shorter morning format works well for younger campers, first-time music students, and children who may not be ready for a long full-day arts program. It also gives families room to combine camp with afternoon plans, rest time, or private lessons.
Camp takes place in a music studio environment with lesson rooms, performance spaces, and community areas. The setting is designed for music instruction rather than general childcare. Campers should expect a focused creative block with instruments, coaching, group work, and a final sharing moment where listed.
Early and late pick-ups may be available by request for an additional charge with early notice. These options are available only when booking directly through the front office.
Leading Note Studios uses a Family Safety Plan for its music education environment. The studio has transparent teaching spaces with glass windows on lesson-room doors, allowing visibility while students continue learning in a dedicated room. Office staff are present during lessons, helping avoid unsupervised one-on-one situations between students and teachers.
Security cameras cover the premises as an additional safety measure. Teachers and staff complete background checks, including National Offender Search, Statewide Criminal Background Check, National Criminal Background Check, and Social Security Number Verification. Parents are also welcome to sit in on lessons through the open-door policy.
Leading Note Studios San Marcos builds its camps around musical discovery and performance. Intro to Music Camp gives beginners a first step into the world of music, with a different instrument explored each day. That structure helps kids compare sounds, styles, and what feels fun in their own hands.
Performance is part of the camp culture. Intro to Music Camp includes a special parent performance on Friday at 11:45. Musical Theatre Summer Camp ends with a mini-production for family and friends. These small finales give campers a reason to practice during the week and a moment to show progress without needing a formal audition-style setting.
Rock Band Camp brings a different tradition: playing with others. Campers learn to listen, follow cues, experiment, and make music as part of a group. The camp is open to many kinds of young musicians, including drummers, guitarists, vocalists, pianists, saxophonists, violinists, and beginners who are eager to try.
Leading Note Studios San Marcos offers several camp pathways for different creative personalities. Intro to Music Camp is designed for beginners and gives campers a daily introduction to piano, guitar, violin, drums, and vocals. It is best for younger children who are curious about music but have not chosen one instrument yet.
Rock Band Camp is more collaborative. Campers learn improvisation, playing by ear, composition, duet playing, and other group-music skills. The camp welcomes beginners, but enthusiasm matters because the format is social and active. Kids can participate as vocalists, drummers, guitarists, pianists, saxophonists, violinists, or other musicians.
Musical Theatre Summer Camp combines acting, singing, movement, and stage skills. The featured material includes scenes and songs from Matilda. Campers work on stage presence, vocal projection, clear speech, and traditional musical theatre dance, then bring the week together in a mini-production.
