This camp, backed by the Burns Recovered Support Group, operates with an unflinching mission: to assist burn survivors in their journey to recovery, actively support medical facilities in Missouri, and engage in educating the public about burn awareness and prevention. Founded originally in 1983 as a joint effort by survivors and members of the burn care team at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, the camp has evolved into a dynamic team of individuals. Comprising members from the public, corporate, medical, and fire service communities, they work concertedly to mitigate the pain and suffering caused by burns and related injuries. In addition to providing an environment conducive to healing and growth, the camp has a broader scope. It is not merely a place for recovery, but also a platform to promote legislation consistent with the goals and objectives of the foundation.
