Overview

Phoenix Sports Summer Camp is a young-child sports and enrichment camp for ages 3–7. The Carlsbad summer program uses two main settings: a full-day kids camp option and a shorter beach camp option. The full-day camp combines sports, STEM, teamwork, and art, while the beach camp adds beach sports, fitness, STEM, and outdoor play near the ocean.

The program is built around helping children become more confident, social, and physically active through play. Phoenix Sports describes its philosophy as building well-rounded kids through sports and play, with a focus on fundamentals, teamwork, social skills, and confidence. The program is led by Coach Doug, a former CUSD PE instructor with a Master’s in Education and more than 9 years of TK–3 classroom teaching experience.

This camp is especially well matched for preschool and early elementary children. Ages 3–7 are still building coordination, listening skills, confidence, and comfort in group activities. A camp that mixes sports with art, STEM, teamwork, and beach play gives them room to move without locking them into one sport all day.

The atmosphere is active, playful, and community-focused, with separated age groups and limited weekly spots.

Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation

Phoenix Sports Summer Camp is a day camp. Campers attend during the scheduled camp hours and return home afterward. No overnight lodging, cabins, dorm rooms, hotel stays, or residential supervision are included.

The full-day kids summer camp runs from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The beach camp runs from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Families can choose the camp format that best fits the child’s stamina and the family schedule. The full-day option works better for children ready for a longer camp routine, while the beach option gives young campers a shorter outdoor morning.

Camp activities take place at Carlsbad camp locations, including an indoor/outdoor community setting and a beach setting. The beach camp is more movement- and environment-based, while the full-day camp includes sports, STEM, teamwork, and art.

Transportation, overnight supervision, extended care, and residential services are not part of the listed camp format.

Safety

Phoenix Sports uses adult-supervised sports programming for young children. The waiver describes the activity as a youth sports program for children, with direct supervision by an adult trained in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and CDC concussion training.

The summer camp listings also note separated age groups and a total capacity of 24 spots for many weekly sessions. This structure helps younger children participate with peers closer to their age and stage. For ages 3–7, that matters because attention span, coordination, and comfort with group games can vary widely.

Families must agree to the waiver of liability and photo release during registration. The waiver also states that participation entails inherent risks associated with sports activities, including minor injuries, more serious injuries, and concussion-related risks.

Health & Medicine

The waiver requires families to confirm that the child is physically fit to participate. It also states that the child should not be experiencing symptoms of illness, should not be injured, and should not show signs of injury while participating in the program.

Phoenix Sports activities may include running, sports games, teamwork challenges, fitness activities, beach play, and other physical movement. Children should be dressed for active play and should be able to participate safely in a group setting.

The program references adult supervision by a person trained in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and CDC concussion training. That is especially relevant for a sports program with young children.

Camp traditions

Phoenix Sports is built around sports to help young children grow. The camp culture is not only about learning a kick, a throw, a catch, or a run. It is also about confidence, teamwork, social skills, listening, and having fun with other kids.

The Carlsbad summer camp format gives children a mix of activities. Full-day campers rotate through sports, STEM, teamwork, and art. Beach campers spend a shorter camp day with beach sports, fitness, STEM, and other outdoor activities. That variety helps young campers stay engaged and gives them a chance to succeed in more than one way.

Separated age groups are part of the program identity. A 3-year-old and a 7-year-old do not need the same pace, rules, or challenge level, so grouping helps the camp feel more developmentally appropriate.

Activities Program

Phoenix Sports Summer Camp offers young campers a broad mix of activities rather than focusing on a single sport. The full-day Carlsbad camp includes sports, STEM, teamwork, and art. The beach camp adds beach sports, fitness, STEM, and other outdoor play.

The sports side supports movement, coordination, basic athletic skills, listening, turn-taking, and confidence. Because the camp serves ages 3–7, activities are likely shaped around early childhood development rather than competitive play. Children in this age range benefit from simple rules, repetition, and games that feel fun rather than technical.

The STEM, teamwork, and art pieces add balance to the day. These activities give campers moments to build, create, cooperate, and slow down between active blocks. That mix can be helpful for young children who need more than running games all day
