At Piedmont Environmental Center (PEC), campers are invited to immerse themselves in the beauty and complexity of the natural world. This summer camp provides hands-on experiences that emphasize the interrelated and fragile nature of life on Earth. With access to 376 acres of diverse habitats—including lakeside areas, pine and hardwood forests, and wetlands—campers will explore nature through guided hikes, wildlife observation, and educational activities. The camp's programs are designed to foster environmental stewardship while teaching children about ecosystems, conservation, and the importance of protecting our planet. Activities may include nature walks, weather observation, plant identification, and learning about local wildlife. Campers will also have access to the center’s interactive exhibits, such as the North Carolina Mapscape and small animal displays. For families looking for a summer camp that combines outdoor fun with environmental education, Piedmont Environmental Center offers an enriching experience where children can connect with nature and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
