San Diego Sol Camps are youth basketball camps designed to help boys and girls ages 6–14 improve their game in an active, structured setting. The camp theme is “Have Fun with Fundamentals,” and that describes the format well. Campers spend the day developing basketball skills, playing games, and breaking down the offensive, defensive, and team concepts needed for stronger overall play.
The camp is led by San Diego Sol coaches, including coaches from local high schools and colleges. Camp Director Spatticus Harris brings more than 20 years of experience coaching camps, clinics, and teams. His background includes college coaching, high school coaching, and playing experience with San Diego Sol’s inaugural men’s professional ABA team.
The day combines instruction and competition. Campers begin with check-in, stretching, and dynamic warmup, then move into skill development and stations. Games and scrimmages are built into both the morning and afternoon schedules. Full-day campers also have a lunch break before the second half of the day.
The strongest fit is for kids who enjoy basketball, want more touches on the ball, and benefit from learning through both drills and play. Beginners can work on core fundamentals, while more experienced players get extra repetitions and game situations.

San Diego Sol Camps are day camps. Campers attend during the selected camp block and return home afterward. No overnight lodging, dorm rooms, cabins, or residential supervision are included.
The regular camp day runs from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Families can also choose half-day options, either in the morning from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or in the afternoon from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. This flexibility works well for different stamina levels, schedules, and basketball goals.
Camp takes place at Alliant International University. The setting is built around basketball activity rather than general recreation. Campers should expect court time, skill stations, scrimmages, and a sports-focused day. Extended care is available from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM for families who need a short pickup buffer after the regular camp day.
Campers bring snacks and plenty of liquids to stay hydrated. Full-day campers also bring their own lunch. Lunch is built into the sample daily schedule at noon, followed by a second warmup and afternoon basketball activities.
Vending machines are available for water, sports drinks, juices, granola bars, chips, and candy. These are helpful backup options, but they should not replace a packed lunch for full-day campers. A practical camp bag should include a lunch, snacks, a refillable water bottle, and anything the child needs to stay comfortable during a full day of basketball.
No prepared meal service, cafeteria lunch, catered food, or special diet program is listed. Families should plan food from home, especially for children who have allergies, strong food preferences, or need more fuel during a physically active day.
San Diego Sol Camps are built around the basketball gym rhythm: arrive, warm up, train, compete, reset, and play again. The daily structure gives campers a steady flow. Mornings focus on stretching, skill stations, and games. Full-day campers break for lunch, then return for another round of warmup, development work, and scrimmages.
A Sol T-shirt is included for campers, giving them a simple take-home item from the week. The camp also carries the broader San Diego Sol basketball identity, connected to youth teams, clinics, tournaments, leagues, and player development.
The main tradition is fundamentals with energy. Campers do not just run games all day, nor do they spend the day doing isolated drills. The format combines teaching and play, helping young players connect skill work to real game situations. Kids get repetition, coaching, and competition in the same day at camp.
San Diego Sol Camps use a structured basketball schedule that balances instruction and game play. Campers start the day with check-in, stretching, and a dynamic warm-up, then move into skill-development stations. These stations are designed to build the basic offensive, defensive, and team skills needed for better basketball performance.
Games and scrimmages appear in both the morning and afternoon blocks. That matters because young players need to practice skills under game pressure, not only in lines or drills. The full-day schedule gives campers two main training-and-play cycles, with a lunch break in between.
The program is open to boys and girls ages 6–14. Younger campers can focus on fundamentals and on getting comfortable with the game. Older players can use the structure to gain extra repetitions, improve decision-making, and gain more competitive court experience.
