Accommodation

STAR Repertory Theatre Camp is a day camp. Campers attend their selected session and return home afterward. No overnight lodging, dorm rooms, cabins, hotel stays, or residential supervision are included.

The camp runs Monday through Friday. The morning session is for ages 5–12 and runs from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The afternoon session is for ages 12–17 and runs from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Families should choose the correct age group and plan for daily drop-off and pick-up around the selected session time.

The program takes place at the STAR Rep Building. This is a theatre-based setting rather than a general recreation center. Campers spend their time in a musical theatre environment connected to rehearsals, performance work, stage training, and group creative activities.

Safety

STAR Repertory Theatre Camp is organized by a nonprofit community theatre company with experience in youth programming. The summer program has been offered across multiple seasons, and the camp is divided into age-based daily sessions. Younger campers ages 5–12 attend the morning session, while teens ages 12–17 attend the afternoon session.

That age split is useful for a theatre camp because younger children and teens often need different pacing, instruction, and social dynamics. The shorter half-day schedule also helps keep the program focused and manageable for performers who may be new to theatre.

The camp takes place in a theatre building, so children are participating in a structured arts environment rather than open recreation. Campers are expected to follow directions, work with others, and participate in musical theatre activities.

Camp traditions

STAR Repertory Theatre Camp is part of a longer summer program tradition. Summer programs from 2012 through recent seasons are described as successful, and the current camp continues that musical theatre focus for youth and teens.

The camp tradition centers on familiar musical theatre worlds. Instead of a generic drama class, each week may draw from shows and stories children already know: Frozen, Annie, The Greatest Showman, Hamilton, The Little Mermaid, Willy Wonka, Beauty and the Beast, Moana, Beetlejuice, The Addams Family, Matilda, Grease, and more. That helps campers step into character work quickly because the songs and stories already have emotional hooks.

The broader STAR Rep culture is rooted in community theatre. Youth, families, and adults participate in theatre programming, auditions, classes, performances, and community productions. Campers are joining a theatre community, not just a one-off activity.

STAR Repertory Theatre Camp introduces campers to the world of musical theatre through one-week intensive sessions. The camp is built for children and teens who want to explore stage performance, music, movement, acting, and character work in a theatre setting.

The program uses popular musical theatre titles and story worlds as inspiration. These titles give campers a familiar entry point into songs, scenes, characters, and performance energy.
