Days at Moonlight Beach center on getting into the water and building surfing skills with focused instruction. Campers work on ocean safety, surfing technique, etiquette, and skill development in a Monday-through-Friday weekly format. The program welcomes first-time surfers as well as participants who already have experience, so instruction can match different starting points. A low 1:3 instructor-to-student ratio gives coaches room to provide individual guidance while students practice in small groups. The camp is designed around a safe, fun, and high-energy experience in the water.
Beginners focus on the fundamentals that lead toward catching and riding waves: paddling, reading and selecting waves, popping up, and placing their feet correctly on the board. Intermediate surfers move into more advanced coaching, including dropping in on the face of a wave, controlling speed, and choosing a board that fits their size and ability. The goal is steady skill development rather than a one-size-fits-all lesson.
Camp takes place at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, with separate morning and afternoon options. Surfboards are provided, while each student needs to bring a wetsuit, dry towel, snack, and water. The beach setting also provides practical public amenities such as restrooms, showers, parking, volleyball courts, picnic facilities, and a playground.

The camp is organized as a Monday-through-Friday surfing program with separate morning and afternoon options. Each day is built around ocean safety, skill development, surfing techniques, and etiquette. Instructors work with a 1:3 instructor-to-student ratio, allowing them to adjust coaching to each participant’s experience and give frequent individual feedback.
First-time surfers start with core skills such as paddling, choosing waves, popping up, and proper foot placement. Those basics are used to help students move toward catching and riding waves with better control. Campers who already have experience can work on more advanced techniques, including dropping in on the face of the wave, managing speed, and selecting a board that fits their size and ability.
The instruction is designed to serve different skill levels within the same surf-camp setting rather than treating every participant as a beginner. Coaches bring surfing experience and years of ocean knowledge to the program, while the small-group format supports more direct guidance. Surfboards are provided for camp use. Students are expected to arrive with their own wetsuits and to bring a dry towel, snack, and water for each day.
Campers are asked to pack a snack and water for each camp day.
Ocean safety is a stated part of each camp day. Instructors are experienced surfers and dedicated coaches with years of ocean knowledge, and the camp uses a 1:3 instructor-to-student ratio so participants receive direct guidance. Moonlight Beach also has year-round lifeguard services as a public beach facility.
Experienced surf instructors and coaches lead the program. The camp describes them as skilled surfers with years of ocean knowledge, and the published instructor-to-student ratio is 1:3. This small-group structure supports personalized coaching for beginners and intermediate surfers as they work on the skills appropriate to their level.
Parents can contact the surf shop with camp questions and reservation needs. The organization also offers a signup for surf camp news and updates.

Surfboards are provided for camp use, but students must bring their own wetsuits.
