This three-day workshop, held from August 3–5, 2016, culminates in a showcase on August 6, 2016, featuring the powerful piece "Nineteen Sixty-Three", choreographed by Kat Files. Designed for dancers of all levels, this program is offered at no cost to ensure accessibility for a broader audience. What Makes This Workshop Special? Here’s what makes it unique: Comprehensive Training: Classes in Horton, Graham, Ballet, and Jazz techniques provide a well-rounded dance education. Celebration of History: The featured piece, "Nineteen Sixty-Three", honors the four girls tragically killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. Expert Instruction: Led by Kat Files, Caci Pritchett, Chelsea Parron, and other accomplished dancers from the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University BFA Program in Dance. Workshop Details  Both Levels: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM Showcase Performance: 4:00 PM Location: To be confirmed Cost: Free of charge Participants: Level I: Beginner dancers aged 6–11 Level II: Intermediate/Advanced dancers aged 12+ Classes Offered Dancers will have the chance to refine their skills and expand their knowledge through: Technique Classes: Horton, Graham, Ballet, and Jazz Dance History: Learn about the evolution of modern/contemporary movement and its cultural significance Featured Showcase The workshop culminates in a showcase featuring "Nineteen Sixty-Three", choreographed by Kat Files. This poignant piece pays tribute to the Civil Rights Movement and the lives lost in the Birmingham church bombing. The performance includes collaboration with musician Royce Files and dancers Khensani Mathebula, Chelsea Parron, and Caci Pritchett. Why Choose This Workshop?
