Overview

The Race Club Swim Camp is a technique-focused camp for swimmers seeking to improve speed, efficiency, and race performance. The program is built around the training philosophy used by The Race Club, which has worked with thousands of athletes and helped more than 50 Olympians.

The camp is not a basic learn-to-swim program. It is designed for swimmers who are ready to train seriously, listen closely, and apply technical feedback in the water. The camp can support different levels, from developing swimmers to competitive athletes, but every participant should be comfortable swimming laps and participating in structured pool sessions.

The program combines classroom learning with immediate pool application. Swimmers study the science of speed, then test those ideas through drills and performance work. The curriculum covers freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, starts, turns, underwater dolphin kicking, body alignment, mobility, strength, recovery, nutrition, mental training, seasonal planning, and race strategy.

This camp is especially useful for swimmers who already spend time in swim practice but want to understand why some techniques make them faster. It gives athletes tools they can take back to their team, training group, or independent practice routine.

Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation

The Race Club Swim Camp is a day camp. Swimmers attend scheduled camp sessions at the aquatic center and leave afterward. No overnight lodging, dorm rooms, cabins, hotel stays, transportation, or residential supervision is included.

Families are responsible for all accommodations. The camp lists nearby hotels and local amenities, but lodging is not included in the camp package. This matters for traveling families because the camp runs across multiple days and includes morning and afternoon pool sessions.

The main four-day Oceanside camp uses a full training rhythm, with sessions spread across the day. Some days include morning pool work, midday optional services, and afternoon sessions. Times may change slightly, so families should keep the schedule flexible.

The camp takes place at a competition-level aquatic center. Swimmers should be prepared for a focused training environment with pool work, classroom-style instruction, dryland elements, and technical review.

Meals

Swimmers are responsible for all meals. Food is not included in the camp price.

The camp schedule includes breaks between sessions, so families should plan meals and snacks around morning and afternoon training. Some days include longer midday gaps, while others may include optional video analysis, college placement video, or TRC sensor testing. Swimmers should arrive fueled, hydrated, and prepared for demanding pool and dryland work.

Because the camp includes multiple swim sessions, nutrition is part of the larger performance picture. The curriculum also includes performance nutrition essentials for swimmers. That means campers may learn about fueling for speed and recovery, but they still need to bring or buy their own food.

Safety

The Race Club Swim Camp takes place in a competition-level aquatic setting and is built around structured instruction. Swimmers are coached through specific technical goals rather than left to train independently. Classroom concepts are reinforced immediately in the pool, helping athletes understand both what to do and why it matters.

The program focuses on technique, body alignment, starts, turns, underwater speed, and safe, efficient movement through the water. Swimmers are expected to arrive with required or recommended equipment prepared before each workout so each session can run smoothly.

This camp is designed for swimmers who can handle serious water training. It is not a beginner swim-safety class. Participants should be comfortable in the pool, able to follow coaching directions, and ready for repeated drills, feedback, and race-skill practice.

Activities Program

The Race Club Swim Camp is organized around technical improvement and race performance. Each day includes education, drills, pool work, and performance training. Swimmers learn the science behind faster swimming, then practice those skills in the water.

The camp covers all four competitive strokes. Freestyle work focuses on mechanics, propulsion, breathing, rhythm, and body alignment. Backstroke training covers body position, rotation timing, arm path, and catch mechanics. Breaststroke work includes timing, technique, and transitions. Butterfly training builds rhythm, timing, efficiency, and confidence.

Race skills are a major part of the program. Swimmers practice starts, block positioning, reaction time, explosive power, streamline control, underwater speed, entry precision, open turns, wall transitions, and race execution. Dryland components include mobility, activation, stretch progression, strength principles, recovery strategies, and dynamic preparation.
