Wake Forest Summer Immersion: Sports Business is an overnight pre-college institute for current 9th–12th grade students, approximately ages 14–18. The program is designed for teens who are interested in the business side of sports, from professional teams and collegiate athletics to sponsorships, promotions, fan engagement, and media.
This institute is broader than a sports marketing class. Students examine how the sports industry operates as a multi-billion-dollar business. They explore what happens behind the scenes when teams sell tickets, create promotions, negotiate sponsorship deals, manage fan relationships, communicate with the media, and respond to current issues in sports.
The experience includes discussions with sports industry executives, conversations with NCAA Division I coaches and administrators, career exploration, and tours of professional and college sports facilities. Students also learn from Ted Tseng, the institute’s Academic Leader, whose background includes professional sports leadership, sales, partnerships, collegiate athletics involvement, and sports management.
This program is a strong fit for teens who love sports but are also curious about business, leadership, sales, communications, management, sponsorships, or career pathways outside the playing field.
