As winter's chill sweeps over Berkeley, California, an opportunity for fun and learning rises at the Cal Boys Water Polo Winter Camp. This December, we invite young water polo enthusiasts to join us in a delightful mix of training and camaraderie, curated by celebrated Cal Water Polo Head Coach, Kirk Everist, and his expert team. Imagine your child making a splash at UC Berkeley’s Legends Aquatics Center, one of the country's top-tier outdoor facilities. Here, they'll follow in the wake of the Bears, who clinched their third consecutive NCAA championship last season. As they refine their skills in this hallowed pool, they'll soak up more than just water.

They'll absorb the fundamentals of the game, the art of tactical discipline, and the nuances of individual roles on the team.This camp isn't just about polishing skills; it's about creating memories and friendships that last a lifetime. It's about the thrill of the game, the joy of learning, and the satisfaction of improving. Whether your child is a seasoned player or a beginner eager to dive into the sport, they'll find their place here.The camp's focus is broad, covering everything from fundamental passing and shooting to team and individual defense. And, of course, there's plenty of time for scrimmages to put those newfound skills to the test.

Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation

As a day camp, no overnight housing is provided. Campers commute daily to the UC Berkeley campus, where all training sessions and activities take place at the Spieker Aquatics Complex.

Meals

Lunch is included for full-day campers and served on campus. Campers should bring their own snacks and water bottles for breaks between sessions.

Medicine

A certified athletic trainer is available during camp hours to assist with injuries or health concerns. Campers who take medication must self-administer it under parental guidance before or after camp.

Security

The camp operates within UC Berkeley’s secure athletic facilities. Participants are supervised at all times by coaches and camp staff during training sessions and transitions.

Camp Traditions

The camp promotes teamwork, perseverance, and fun through daily challenges and skill competitions. The final day includes a friendly scrimmage and awards recognizing improvement and sportsmanship.

Activities Program

    • In-water training sessions focusing on passing, shooting, defense, and team tactics
    • Position-specific instruction for goalies, shooters, and two-meter players
    • Dry-land conditioning and strength workouts
    • Video analysis and goal-setting workshops for skill improvement
    • Daily scrimmages and game-situation drills
    • Check-in, orientation, and closing sessions each day
