Camp Parker

Camp Parker

San Diego, CA, USA

Overview

Campers move through a summer built around changing sports, hands-on science, creative arts, team challenges, puzzles, and time with friends. Camp Parker serves children from Senior Kindergarten through Grade 8, with younger campers based at the Mission Hills campus and Grades 4–8 at Linda Vista. Families can register for a single week or continue across the season, so children can experience different weekly themes without committing to the same activity every day.

For SK–Grade 3, the published lineup includes rugby, basketball, pickleball, baseball, soccer, and capoeira-themed weeks. These campers also have scheduled aquatics on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Douglas Aquatic Center, where certified instructors lead swim lessons and children who pass the swim test may join free swim. Friday field trips take younger campers to San Diego destinations such as science, air and space, and children’s museums.

Campers can expect active blocks, creative choices, and scheduled transitions throughout the day. Grades 4–8 combine Camp Parker programming with sports-focused weeks such as volleyball, rugby, baseball, and soccer. Their sample day includes an assembly, a chosen morning activity, lunch, afternoon Camp Parker programming, and a daily swimming opportunity. Across both age divisions, the program emphasizes active participation and varied experiences rather than a single specialty.

Program

Camp Parker is organized by grade band and campus. SK–Grade 3 campers attend at Mission Hills, while Grades 4–8 use the Linda Vista campus. Families can choose a single week or continue through multiple weeks, and the activity focus changes across the season. Younger weeks feature named themes built around sports such as rugby, basketball, pickleball, baseball, soccer, and capoeira, while the older division mixes general Camp Parker weeks with dedicated volleyball, rugby, baseball, and soccer sports camps.

The daily rhythm also changes by age. SK–Grade 3 campers begin with drop-off and a morning meeting, move through camp activities, snack, outside games, lunch, and afternoon Camp Parker programming. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, their afternoon program includes aquatics. Grades 4–8 begin with an assembly, spend the morning in a chosen activity, take a 30-minute lunch within the published lunch window, continue with Camp Parker programming, and have a swimming opportunity in the afternoon. Extended day is available after the regular pickup period at each campus on Monday through Thursday.

Aquatics are structured around swim lessons with certified instructors. Campers who pass the swim test may move into free swim with pool toys, games, and time to practice strokes with peers or counselors.
