Accommodation
DA Summer is a day camp, so there are no overnight accommodations. Campers participate during daytime hours and return home afterward, making it an ideal option for families who prefer local, non-residential programs. The camp’s daily structure is designed to replicate the rhythm of a classic summer-camp experience while remaining accessible to families in the area.
Younger campers gather in small, age-appropriate groups — often called “cabins” — that provide consistency and help children connect with their peers and counselors throughout the week. Indoor classrooms, outdoor fields, arts spaces, and multipurpose recreation areas support a wide variety of activities. For families requiring extended care, before- and after-care options allow children to arrive early or stay later in a supervised, relaxed environment that feels like an extension of the regular camp day.
Meals
DA Summer provides lunch and snacks as part of its daytime programming, with families able to select or decline meal plans based on their preferences. This flexibility allows children to enjoy balanced meals provided by the camp or to bring their own food if they have dietary restrictions, allergies, or personal taste preferences.
Meal times are structured to fit naturally into the camp day, offering a pleasant break for socializing and recharging. The camp encourages families to note any dietary needs during registration so the staff can accommodate food allergies, intolerances, or specific nutritional requirements when possible. Parents who choose not to participate in the meal plan can send lunches and snacks packed from home. The camp ensures that all food breaks remain supervised, relaxed, and safe for every child.
Safety
Safety is a core priority at DA Summer. The camp maintains a trained Health & Safety team, and all staff members — including counselors and activity specialists — receive first-aid and CPR/AED training. This ensures that campers are supervised by professionals who are equipped to respond effectively to minor injuries and unexpected health issues.
Daily activities follow structured schedules, which support supervision and organization. For younger children, especially, cabin-group systems ensure consistent counselor oversight. In addition, the camp maintains procedures for weather-related schedule changes and communicates updates promptly through phone, email, or text.
All off-campus experiences, such as special events or field trips, are closely supervised by staff members. Combined with thoughtful programming, experienced leadership, and a well-staffed environment, these measures help create a safe, reassuring atmosphere where children can enjoy adventure. At the same time, parents feel confident in their care.
Medicine
DA Summer’s Health & Safety Coordinator oversees medical needs, first-aid response, and health protocols across the campus. The camp allows families to submit medical information in advance so staff can be prepared to support children with allergies, asthma, diabetes, or other health considerations. Clear systems are in place for the storage, administration, and documentation of medication.
Suppose a child becomes ill during the day. In that case, staff will contact families promptly and take appropriate steps to ensure the camper’s comfort and safety. Emergency procedures are well established, allowing the Health & Safety team to respond quickly and effectively if urgent medical care is needed. Families receive communication through phone, text, or email, depending on the situation. These processes help ensure that every child gets attentive, compassionate care throughout their time at camp.
Camp traditions
DA Summer builds a sense of community through weekly traditions that bring campers together and add variety to the schedule. Weekly themes energize the program, creating opportunities for children to engage in special crafts, games, or performances connected to the theme. Camps often conclude their week with lively Friday celebrations featuring guest performances, science demonstrations, music, or group activities — giving campers something exciting to look forward to.
Cabin-group rotations also serve as a daily tradition, helping children form strong bonds and enjoy familiar routines. Shared meals, structured afternoon options, and small-group activities reinforce a sense of belonging. These traditions are part of what makes DA Summer memorable — a mix of fun rituals, supportive community building, and a rhythm that gives children both excitement and consistency throughout the summer.
