Museum Camp offers children a week-long immersion in science, nature, and discovery, all within a setting that combines outdoor natural spaces and indoor museum exhibits. The atmosphere is curious, energetic, and exploratory — perfect for kids who love asking “why?” and testing things out. Campers from Pre-K through 8th grade are welcome, with age-appropriate groups so that younger children and older kids each get activities suited to their level.
Each camp week is structured around a theme — from animal adventures to nature exploration to creative science labs — giving kids chances to learn about ecosystems, wildlife, engineering, nature, and more, in fun, hands-on ways. They spend part of the day outdoors (in the woods or natural science areas), part exploring exhibits, and part doing projects or experiments. That mix of indoor and outdoor time makes this camp great for children who enjoy variety, activity, and learning by doing. Friendly, trained educators guide each group, helping campers try new things, ask questions, and discover science in a playful, social environment.
If your child is curious about nature, animals, building things, or exploring STEM topics — or likes being active, creative, and outside — Museum Camp offers a summer full of discovery and fun.

Museum Camp operates as a day camp, and campers return home each afternoon.
No overnight accommodations, cabins, dormitories, or residential housing are provided, and no additional information about lodging is available on the camp’s website.
Families may choose to pack their child’s lunch or select the optional boxed-lunch add-on offered for the Durham camp. The boxed lunches include both standard and vegetarian options, and the camp can accommodate dietary restrictions when families provide advance notice.
Campers are asked to bring a refillable water bottle, a morning snack, and, for those participating in afternoon care, an additional afternoon snack. Clothing should be comfortable and appropriate for both indoor activities and outdoor exploration. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety.
Museum Camp maintains a structured and well-supervised environment. Children are assigned to small groups with designated educators, with lower ratios for younger campers to ensure individualized attention. Groups follow a clear daily schedule, moving together between indoor exhibits, outdoor spaces, and activity rooms.
The camp uses a secure drop-off and pick-up process. Families must display approved identification or a pickup pass at sign-out, and staff follow controlled procedures to ensure children are released only to authorized adults.
Outdoor activities are planned with weather and environmental conditions in mind. On exceptionally hot, stormy, or unsafe days, staff adjust the schedule to increase indoor time and ensure children remain safe and comfortable.
All campers must submit health and emergency information prior to attendance. This includes medical history, allergies, special needs, and emergency contact information.
The camp can provide standard first-aid care but does not offer one-on-one medical supervision or individualized medical services. Families with children requiring additional support are encouraged to contact the camp in advance to discuss accommodations or the potential need for a caregiver or assistant.
Transparent communication regarding allergies, medications, or specialized needs is essential for staff to create a safe environment.
Museum Camp provides a diverse mix of science, exploration, creativity, and nature-based activities. Each week centers on a unique theme, and groups rotate through a variety of hands-on experiences tailored to their age level. Days typically include outdoor nature walks, visits to museum exhibits, science experiments, craft or building projects, and group games.
The program is structured yet flexible, giving children time to explore freely while also participating in guided learning activities. Educators adapt each activity so campers of different ages can engage deeply and meaningfully with the material.
Lunch add-ons and extended care options must typically be chosen during registration.
Families must provide required forms, including health information, before camp begins.
Campers must bring appropriate footwear, snacks, and a filled water bottle each day.
