Accommodation
Campers sleep in rustic bunk-style cabins on wilderness-riverfront terrain, blending simplicity with comfort. Bunks are grouped by age, under the care of trained counselors who live nearby. The natural setting — woodlands, river, farm — gives cabin life a peaceful, grounding rhythm. Shared bathrooms and communal spaces support community building, and campers rotate through daily chores, handicraft projects and evening gatherings. Living close to nature helps encourage independence, resilience, and a stronger sense of belonging.
Meals
Meals at Eden Village West are entirely vegetarian, organic, and sourced as locally as possible, reflecting the camp’s commitment to sustainability. The kitchen prioritizes whole foods, herbs from their own garden, and mindful cooking and eating practices. Meals also become community rituals: campers eat together, build relationships, and participate in food education. The “farm-to-table” model teaches campers not just about nutrition, but about responsibility, stewardship, and caring for the earth and one another.
Safety
Safety at Eden Village West is carefully managed: staff undergo rigorous training, and the remote farm-and-woods environment is monitored with structured supervision. Outdoor activities, such as hiking, wilderness skills training, and river-based exploration, follow established protocols and guidance provided by experienced leaders. Campers check in at designated times, and safety plans are in place for emergencies. The commitment to ecological health and respect for the land also translates into responsible risk management — campers learn to interact safely and respectfully with their environment.
Health & Medicine
The camp maintains a health center staffed by trained personnel to manage first-aid, medications, and camper wellness. Families submit detailed medical forms during registration, allowing staff to plan for allergies, dietary needs, and ongoing prescriptions. Given its rural location, the camp has systems in place for emergency response and transportation to nearby facilities as needed. The health philosophy reflects the camp’s broader values: caring for the body, caring for the land, and caring for the community.
Camp traditions
Traditions at Eden Village West are deeply woven into its culture of kindness, creativity, and sustainability. Morning and evening rituals, such as communal meals, song circles, and campfires, create shared spaces for reflection and connection. The Shomrei Tzedek (Guardians of Justice) program is a signature tradition for older campers, combining social justice learning with hands-on action and peer mentorship. Garden tending, animal care, and food education happen regularly, reinforcing a sense of purpose and stewardship. Over the weeks, campers form tight-knit “tribes” that support one another, celebrate together, and develop leadership skills.
