Girls Rock Asheville Summer Camp: Empowerment Through Music and Community Girls Rock Asheville Summer Camp, located in Asheville, North Carolina, is a transformative experience for youth ages 8-14 who self-identify as female, transgender, non-binary, or gender non-conforming. This nonprofit camp is more than just about music—it’s about building confidence, fostering creativity, and creating a supportive community where every camper feels valued. No prior musical experience? No problem! Girls Rock Asheville provides all instruments and gear, ensuring that every child has the tools they need to thrive. Throughout the week, campers form their own bands and collaborate to write an original song. 

Along the way, they receive instruction on their chosen instrument and participate in empowering workshops on topics like songwriting, zine-making, synths and electronic music, self-defense, screen printing, and more. The camp also features performances and Q&A sessions with local queer and women musicians to inspire campers. One of the highlights of the week is the camper showcase—a live performance where participants take the stage to share their original music with family and friends. It’s a celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration. Girls Rock Asheville is committed to accessibility and inclusivity. Full and partial scholarships are available for families facing economic barriers, ensuring that no child is excluded due to financial constraints. 

The camp embraces diversity in all forms—age, race, gender expression, physical ability, learning styles, nationality, and more. Running from July 15-19, 2024 (with the showcase on July 20), this day camp operates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rainbow Community School. Lunch and snacks are provided daily.
