Music takes center stage in a week built around learning, rehearsing, creating, and performing. K&M Music School Camps bring together six focused programs for children and teens ages 6–18: Young Musicians, Band Builders, Strings Spotlight, Music Theory, Vocal Performance, and Guitar Camp. Each track is designed around a different musical interest and skill level, from first-time exploration through intermediate and advanced ensemble work. Campers may discover instruments, strengthen technique, write and arrange music, work on rhythm and ear training, or build performance skills with coaching from music educators and professional musicians.
The program combines instruction with collaborative music-making. Young Musicians introduces piano, percussion, strings, guitar basics, singing, movement, and rhythm games. Older campers can rehearse as a band, develop violin, viola, or cello skills, study chords and progressions, train healthy vocal technique, or work on guitar chords, strumming, fingerpicking, and timing. Half-day and full-day options share the same core camp focus, while the full-day schedule adds more practice time, enrichment, listening, theory, and music games.
Every camp week leads toward a Friday showcase, giving students a clear performance goal. The San Diego campus includes professional studios, rehearsal areas, and performance spaces, so the week moves naturally from instruction to coached practice and finally to the stage.

You can still submit a quick request to let the camp know you’re interested.
Campers choose one of six music-focused programs. Young Musicians is the broadest beginner option, using instrument discovery, singing, movement, rhythm games, and low-pressure mini performances. Band Builders centers on songwriting, arranging, ensemble listening, rehearsal strategy, stage presence, and group performance. Strings Spotlight develops bow control, intonation, rhythm accuracy, ensemble playing, and performance preparation for violin, viola, and cello students.
Music Theory explores rhythm, counting, key signatures, intervals, chords, progressions, ear training, and short composition. Vocal Performance works on breath support, pitch accuracy, healthy tone, song preparation, and performance skills. Guitar Camp covers chord changes, strumming, fingerpicking basics, simple lead ideas, timing, group jams, and a final performance.
Families can select a half-day schedule from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM or a full-day schedule from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Mornings focus on instruction and rehearsals, followed by a supervised social break. Full-day campers continue with enrichment, listening, theory, practice support, and music games. The half-day option lists small groups with a maximum of 12 campers. Each week ends with a Friday showcase, giving campers a concrete goal for the skills they develop during the session.
Families list allergies and dietary restrictions during registration so snacks and camp activities can be planned safely. Food-related needs should be included with the camper’s health information before camp begins.
Supervision begins at 9:00 AM and continues through the scheduled pickup period. Children may be picked up only by authorized adults listed during registration, and photo identification may be requested. Half-day pickup is due by 1:15 PM and full-day pickup by 4:15 PM; late pickup can trigger an additional fee.
Campers are expected to follow staff instructions, treat instructors and other students respectfully, and use school instruments, furniture, and equipment carefully. Unsafe or disruptive behavior may lead to dismissal. Phones, tablets, and other personal electronics are kept away during instruction unless an instructor approves their use. Personal instruments and electronics are brought at the family’s own risk.
Registration collects information about allergies, dietary restrictions, medical conditions, accommodations, medications, and emergency medicines such as an EpiPen. Families are asked to keep children home when they have fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or contagious symptoms. If a camper becomes ill during the day, a parent or guardian must pick up the child within 30 minutes.
Parents can provide medication details before camp and indicate whether emergency medication will be brought on the first day. If a medical emergency occurs and a parent cannot be reached, staff may call 911 and obtain emergency treatment for the child.
Camp instruction is led by professional musicians and experienced educators. The camp team includes instructors for violin, piano and early childhood music, voice and musical theater, flute and recorder, and guitar and ukulele. Teaching focuses on clear fundamentals, technique, rhythm, tone, ensemble skills, and age-appropriate pacing. Michael Dvoskin, one of the camp’s violin instructors, holds a Master of Music degree in violin performance and has performed with the San Diego Symphony. Other school faculty profiles also describe advanced music training and professional performance experience.
After a family submits a camp registration request, the program follows up by email to confirm the selected camp and session and to provide payment instructions and next steps. Registration also lets families choose text or email as a preferred contact method. Authorized pickup adults and emergency contacts are collected before camp, and families can use the school’s public contact channels for questions.
Drop-off is no earlier than 8:50 AM, and camp begins at 9:00 AM. Half-day pickup is due by 1:15 PM; full-day pickup is due by 4:15 PM. Only adults authorized during registration may pick up a child, and identification may be requested. Guitar campers should bring their own guitars, and string campers should bring their violins; vocal campers do not need an instrument. Music Theory Camp provides the necessary keyboards and equipment. Personal instruments and electronics remain the family’s responsibility while at camp.
A $100 reservation deposit is required after registration is confirmed by email, and the deposit is non-refundable. The remaining camp balance must be paid before the session begins. If K&M cancels a camp session, all payments, including the deposit, are refunded.
