Lion Golf Academy Summer Camp is an advanced junior golf camp offered through PGA Junior Golf Camps at Balboa Park Golf Course. The program is designed for boys and girls ages 12–16 who want to move their golf game toward a more competitive level. It is not a beginner introduction and is best matched with juniors who already have golf experience and are ready for focused coaching.
The camp combines PGA instruction with Lion Golf Academy’s player-development approach. Campers work on core golf principles, short game, putting, full swing, and athletic development. The academy also encourages children to play other sports, which reflects a broader view of junior development rather than a narrow, year-round golf track.
A key feature is the advanced format. Campers work with coaches on skill set development and stat-taking to identify strengths and weaknesses. From there, the coaching team helps each player understand cause-and-effect in the golf swing, ball-flight fundamentals, mental awareness, and other tools that support personal growth.
The atmosphere is instructional, small-group, and improvement-oriented. With an approximately 6:1 student-to-instructor ratio, campers get more direct coaching than they would in a large recreational camp.

Lion Golf Academy Summer Camp is a day camp, not an overnight program. Campers attend the morning session and return home when camp ends. No dorm rooms, cabins, hotel lodging, or residential supervision are included.
The listed advanced camp runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This half-day format works well for junior golfers who want focused training without a full day on-site. The morning schedule also keeps the program focused: campers come for golf development, coaching, practice, and feedback on improvement.
The camp takes place at Balboa Park Golf Course, a public golf facility with an 18-hole championship course, a 9-hole executive course, a driving range, a short-game area, and a practice putting green. Course play is not included in this advanced camp, so families should understand the program as a skill-development camp rather than a full round-based golf experience.
Lunch is not provided for advanced camps. The camp is scheduled as a morning half-day program from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, so a formal lunch period is not part of the listed camp day.
No cafeteria service, catered meals, snack service, or special diet support is listed for this camp. Families should plan around the short morning schedule and send the camper prepared for outdoor golf training. Any food or drink needs should be handled from home unless otherwise confirmed before the first day.
Lion Golf Academy Summer Camp uses an approximately 6:1 student-to-instructor ratio. The camp is led by certified PGA of America Golf Professionals and/or LPGA Teaching Professionals, with instruction designed for junior golfers.
Safety is built into the golf training environment. Campers are assigned designated safety areas at the practice facility and are taught to remain in those areas unless directed otherwise. Only one camper is allowed in a safety zone at a time. Campers are instructed not to walk into another golfer’s swing area, not to swing a club outside the safety zone, and not to retrieve balls or tees outside the zone without direction.
On-course safety rules include waiting for groups ahead, never standing behind a golfer preparing to hit, using “FORE” when a ball is moving toward others, and following weather procedures in case of lightning. Staff are trained on safety practices and emergency response. Parents or guardians are contacted if an emergency involves their child.
Lion Golf Academy Summer Camp is built for advanced junior golfers who want more than casual range time. Campers work with the coaching staff to identify current strengths and weaknesses through skill development and stat tracking. Those findings shape the training focus during the camp week.
The instruction covers full swing, short game, putting, and core golf principles. Campers also study cause and effect in the golf swing, which helps them understand why a ball curves, flies too low, misses a target, or reacts a certain way. Ball flight fundamentals are a central part of that learning process.
Mental awareness is also included. Competitive golf requires more than a good swing; players need focus, patience, and decision-making. This camp introduces those ideas in a practical training setting.
Campers are encouraged to bring their own clubs.
Families without junior clubs are advised to ask about possible rentals or loaner clubs.
