Accommodation
Campers stay in shared cabins grouped by age or grade, with about eight to ten campers per cabin and two counselors living with them. This setup creates a cozy “camp-family” feel and helps first-time campers adjust easily.
Each cabin is resort-style, featuring air conditioning, heating, and full amenities, including electricity, carpeting, and built-in closets for each camper. Many cabins also feature private bathrooms and showers, adding comfort while maintaining the traditional camp experience.
Cabin assignments are carefully made to match ages, personalities, and camper experience levels, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Campers are encouraged to take pride in their living space, with daily cabin tidying and fun competitions, such as “Bunk Inspections,” that reward teamwork and cleanliness. The cabin experience combines comfort with camaraderie, providing kids with a warm and structured home away from home.
Meals
Campers enjoy buffet-style meals served in a dining hall, with cabin groups seated together, which helps build community at every meal. Breakfast is hot and full: options include pancakes or waffles, scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, soy or dairy milk, fresh fruit, and a variety of cereals.
Lunch and dinner offer at least two to three hot entrées each, with one always vegetarian. Meals include fresh-cut fruit, a full salad bar with organic greens, chopped veggies, cold protein options, and several dressings. Water, juice, and low-fat or chocolate milk are continually available.
A professionally-trained chef leads the camp’s kitchen team. They emphasise variety and fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and work with a dietician to accommodate dietary needs such as peanut/tree-nut allergies and gluten intolerance. While peanuts and accommodation for allergens are addressed, campers and families are reminded that the facility is not nut-free and cross-contamination cannot be fully ruled out.
Health & Medicine
River Way Ranch Camp operates an on-site Health Center staffed by licensed nurses, with a physician on call at all times. The nearest hospital is about 35 minutes away, and emergency air transport is available when needed.
Parents are required to provide detailed medical forms before arrival, outlining any allergies, medications, or special health considerations. The camp accommodates a wide range of dietary and medical needs, although it is not a nut-free facility. Campers requiring medication receive it through the health staff, ensuring proper dosage and record-keeping.
Health and safety are treated as a team effort between parents and camp staff. By fostering open communication, River Way Ranch Camp ensures that every child has a safe, healthy, and worry-free experience.
