Accommodation
Saken Summer Camp Santa Monica is a non-residential day camp. Campers attend during the day and return home each afternoon.
Activities take place on the beach and in nearby activity areas, allowing campers to move between sports, games, and water sessions. The day-camp format offers flexibility for families while still providing a full and structured camp experience.
Meals
Campers should arrive with a packed lunch, plenty of liquids, and a snack each day. The camp is mindful of food allergies and encourages families to use peanut butter alternatives whenever possible. If a camper’s diet requires peanut butter, lunch arrangements can be adjusted to help maintain a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.
An optional hot lunch program may be offered during the summer. When available, meals are designed to be balanced and satisfying, typically including a main dish, vegetables, fruit, dessert, and a drink. Details about menus and availability are shared after registration, and families who choose this option sign up and pay in advance through the camp’s registration system.
Safety
Safety is a central focus of the Saken Summer Camp Santa Monica experience. Swimming is offered daily as an optional activity, and all campers are asked to arrive wearing their swimsuit so they can cool off and safely engage with the water at a comfortable level.
Certified lifeguards supervise campers both in and out of the water at all times. Younger campers remain in shallow areas where they can stand comfortably, while clear rules and close supervision help ensure a secure environment for all participants. Camp rash guards are required during water activities, and sunscreen is reapplied during the day with staff assistance to support sun safety.
Health & Medicine
Medical release and liability forms are completed as part of the online registration process. This information helps staff respond appropriately in the event of illness or injury and supports safe participation in daily activities.
Camp staff monitor campers’ well-being throughout the day and encourage hydration, rest breaks, and sun protection. Families are asked to share any medical conditions, allergies, or special considerations in advance so appropriate support can be provided. Photos and videos taken during camp activities may be used for camp-related promotional purposes.
Camp traditions
Saken Summer Camp emphasizes community, routine, and shared experiences. Campers follow familiar daily rhythms that help them feel confident as they move through activities, while beach time and group games create memorable summer moments.
Team challenges, shared activities on the sand, and group celebrations help campers build friendships and a strong sense of belonging throughout their time at camp.
