SCATS

At the intersection of academic stimulation and fun-filled activities, lies the Summer Camp for Academically Talented Students (SCATS) at Western Kentucky University. This camp is not your typical summer getaway; it's a two-week journey through the expansive world of knowledge and camaraderie. Witness the campus teeming with eager 7th to 9th graders, all set to embark on an enriching educational journey. The camp, having decades of experience under its belt, combines the best of hands-on, minds-on activities from a wide array of subjects. From rocket science to art and from leadership to literature, each student gets the opportunity to select four classes from a plethora of around 30 to 35 options. However, it's not all studies and no play. SCATS is designed to be a holistic experience, where students can also enjoy a college-style living, complete with dormitories and a host of extracurricular activities. Planned evening and weekend activities range from cookouts and dances to sports and talent shows, making every day a new adventure. Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of SCATS is its emphasis on celebrating academic success and talents. The camp fosters an environment where students feel proud of their scholastic achievements, rather than hiding them. It's a place where they can shine brightly, learn in and outside the classroom, and most importantly, fit in.
