SKATESIDE Camps Santa Monica delivers a focused skateboarding experience in a structured, supportive setting. This is not a drop-in free skate session. It’s a skill-driven program led by experienced coaches who guide campers through technique, safety, and steady progression.
Each day blends instruction with hands-on practice. Beginners work on balance, stance, pushing, and stopping. As confidence grows, campers move into carving, ramp basics, and trick development. More experienced riders refine control, flow, and technical skills under coach supervision.
The energy is upbeat but organized. Coaches break down skills into manageable steps so kids can experience small wins throughout the day. That steady improvement builds confidence fast. Falling becomes part of learning, not a setback.
This camp is ideal for elementary and middle school–age kids who have the coordination and focus needed for skateboarding instruction. It works well for active children who enjoy movement and hands-on challenges. Skateboarding demands patience, persistence, and body awareness. By the end of the session, many campers walk away stronger, braver, and more independent on their boards.

SKATESIDE Camps in Santa Monica take place at The Cove Skate Park, one of the area’s most respected skate facilities. This is a day camp program focused on structured skateboarding instruction.
The Cove features smooth concrete, flowing transitions, bowls, ramps, ledges, and street-style elements. The layout allows riders at different levels to practice safely without overcrowding. Beginners can build fundamentals in controlled areas, while more advanced skaters work on technical features suited to their skills.
The park is known for being clean, thoughtfully designed, and welcoming to younger riders. Its professional-grade construction supports real progression. Coaches can easily monitor multiple groups while keeping skill levels separated for safety and efficiency.
There is no overnight lodging provided. Families are responsible for drop-off and pick-up.
Campers should plan to bring their own snack and a refillable water bottle. Skateboarding requires energy and hydration, especially in warm weather.
Light snacks such as fruit, protein bars, or simple packed items work well. Water is especially important, as most activities take place outdoors.
Safety plays a central role in the SKATESIDE approach. Skateboarding involves movement, speed, and balance, so protective measures are taken seriously.
Helmets are required. Additional protective gear such as knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards is strongly encouraged and may be required depending on the activity. Coaches teach proper falling techniques early in the program to reduce injury risk.
Campers are grouped by skill level so beginners are not pressured into advanced features before they are ready. Clear riding rules are enforced to maintain order within the park.
Supervised sessions, structured instruction, and controlled practice zones help create a safer learning environment.
Families are expected to communicate any medical conditions, allergies, or special health considerations prior to camp participation.
Because activities take place outdoors, sun protection is important. Campers should arrive with sunscreen applied and may bring additional sunscreen for reapplication. Lightweight athletic clothing and closed-toe skate shoes are recommended.
Hydration remains essential during active skate sessions. Campers should bring a refillable water bottle and take breaks as needed.
If medication is required during camp hours, arrangements should be discussed directly with staff in advance.
Skateboarding is built on encouragement and community. That culture shows up clearly at SKATESIDE.
Campers celebrate milestones together. A first successful push. A clean drop-in. Landing a new trick. Coaches and peers recognize those wins with genuine excitement.
Friendly skill demonstrations may take place toward the end of a session. These are not intense competitions. Instead, they give riders a chance to show progress and support each other.
By the end of camp, many kids leave with more than improved technique. They leave feeling part of a skate crew.
The SKATESIDE Santa Monica program centers fully on skateboarding skill development. Each session includes coach-led instruction, drills, guided practice, and supervised ride time. Campers work within small groups organized by ability level, allowing coaches to give personalized feedback.
Beginners focus on stance, pushing, turning, and controlled stopping. As skills improve, riders begin working on transitions, ramp basics, and trick foundations. Intermediate skaters refine balance, flow, and technical elements while learning safe progression strategies.
The goal is steady growth. Campers are challenged, but never rushed. Confidence builds as each new skill is mastered.
Campers should arrive ready to ride. A properly fitted helmet is required, and additional protective gear is strongly recommended for comfort and confidence while learning new skills. Skateboards should be in good working condition before camp begins.
Comfortable athletic clothing and secure, closed-toe skate shoes help kids move safely and freely. Labeling personal gear is a smart idea, especially during busy camp days at the park.
