UCLA UniCamp

UCLA UniCamp

Los Angeles, CA, USA

Overview

Introducing UCLA UniCamp, the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles, where city life gives way to the serenity of nature and the twinkle of starlight. Here, children aged 10 to 17 find respite from urban bustle, trading the hum of traffic for the whispers of the wind and the soft murmur of a flowing river. The Classic UniCamp, crafted for youngsters aged 10 to 14, offers not just a slice of traditional camping life, but a grand buffet of experiences. From archery lessons to arts and crafts sessions, from scaling the alpine climbing tower to sailing or mountain biking, the camp is a veritable wonderland of activities.

And to add a dash of soul to the fun, each Classic UniCamp session partners with a Los Angeles area nonprofit or after-school program to address a social initiative, making the camp a place of growth, both personal and social. For the older lot aged 15 to 17, the camp pulls out all the stops. Specialty camps designed to push boundaries and challenge comfort zones, these programs aim to foster leadership skills and instill a sense of responsibility in campers.

But UCLA UniCamp is more than just a summer camp. It's a bridge between UCLA and the community, an independently funded non-profit that every year inspires over 1,200 children from urban communities to envision brighter futures. As such, to be eligible for UCLA UniCamp, a student must qualify for free or reduced meals at school, have an open DCFS case, or be part of the CalFresh Program. In the embrace of nature, UCLA UniCamp offers its campers the chance to lead, play, and learn. It’s a place where the mind can roam free, the spirit can soar, and dreams can take flight.
