Wake Forest Summer Immersion: Artificial Intelligence is an overnight pre-college institute for current 9th–12th grade students, approximately ages 14–18. The program is designed for teens who are curious about how artificial intelligence is changing technology, business, healthcare, policy, and everyday life.
The institute introduces students to the science of AI, including machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics. It also looks at the harder questions: bias, transparency, privacy, responsible design, automation, global governance, international regulation, sustainability, and geopolitical competition.
The experience is hands-on and discussion-based. Students may train an AI model, develop chatbot or data-analysis projects, take part in ethics simulations, debate AI-related dilemmas, hear from guest speakers across academia, industry, government, and policy, and visit tech hubs or innovation centers to see AI in action.
This institute is a strong fit for students who enjoy technology, coding, ethics, robotics, data, policy, or problem-solving. It is not only for future programmers. It can also interest teens who want to understand how AI will affect medicine, law, education, business, government, and society.
