Yunasa Summer Camp, run by the Institute for Educational Advancement, was created specifically for gifted and talented youth who crave connection and balance. The camp’s name means “balance” in Lakota, and that’s exactly what it offers — time outdoors mixed with guided reflection, mindfulness, and social-emotional growth.
Each day combines fun classic camp activities with intentional workshops led by counselors experienced in working with gifted children. Campers explore the five aspects of self —intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual — and discover tools to thrive in all of them.
The camp’s philosophy is about nurturing the whole child, not just their academic abilities. Here, being gifted doesn’t mean being pressured — it means being accepted, challenged, and understood.
Most campers are between ages 10 and 15, making this an ideal setting for middle schoolers and early teens who want a mix of traditional camp fun and meaningful growth experiences.
