Surf Badass LA is a day surf camp focused on helping children develop surfing skills while building confidence and resilience. The camp atmosphere is upbeat and encouraging, designed to help campers feel comfortable in the ocean regardless of prior experience. Instruction emphasizes personal progress, safety awareness, and enjoying time in the water.
Campers spend their days learning the fundamentals of surfing, including board handling, paddling, balance, and wave awareness. Lessons are paired with plenty of time to practice in real ocean conditions under staff supervision. Beyond surfing technique, the program encourages independence, perseverance, and a positive attitude toward challenges.
What makes this camp stand out is its focus on mindset as much as skill. Campers are encouraged to try new things, support one another, and celebrate small victories in the water. The experience is active and physical, but also empowering, helping kids gain confidence that carries beyond the beach.
Surf Badass LA is best suited for elementary- and middle-school-age children who enjoy physical activity, being outdoors, and spending time at the beach. It works well for both beginners and kids with some surfing experience who want to build skills in a structured, supportive setting.

Surf Badass LA operates as a day camp. Campers return home at the end of each day, and overnight accommodations are not part of the program.
Surf safety and supervision are central to the camp experience. Camp activities are led by trained instructors who guide surf sessions and monitor campers during ocean time. Instruction includes awareness of ocean conditions and responsible behavior in the water.
The activities program centers on hands-on surf instruction combined with beach-based activities. Campers learn surfing fundamentals through guided lessons and spend significant time practicing in the water. Instruction focuses on safety, technique, and confidence-building.
Activities are structured to help campers progress at their own pace while still being challenged. Group sessions encourage teamwork and peer support, while individual feedback helps campers improve specific skills. Time at the beach allows for both focused learning and moments to relax and reset between surf sessions.
What to bring: Lunch, towel, bathing suit (or something tight to wear underneath wetsuit) full + cold reusable water bottle, hat or bucket hat (optional but recommended).
