Park visits and themed projects bring variety to the week at City Tree Christian School Summer Camp. Children make art, play games, and take part in special activities connected to a weekly theme. Daily devotions introduce Christian reflection, while an afternoon academic hour keeps learning part of the summer routine.
Two programs organize the experience by school grade. KinderCamp serves children entering kindergarten and first grade. Adventure Camp welcomes those entering second through eighth grade and adds an off-campus activity on one day during most weeks. Both groups visit a park each week. Nearby museums, Balboa Park, and Waterfront Park are among the destinations for walking outings.
The day camp uses the school campus as its base, with optional care before and after regular activities. Families receive weekly schedules so they can prepare the right clothes and supplies. Children who enjoy creative projects, neighborhood outings, and a Christian program can find those interests in the same week.

KinderCamp and Adventure Camp share a weekly theme, with art, games, and special projects giving children different ways to engage with it. Morning devotions and an afternoon academic hour form part of the daily pattern. A Vacation Bible School week also appears in the summer program.
Both groups visit a park during the week. Adventure Camp adds an off-campus special activity on one day during most weeks. Most outings are walks to nearby destinations, including museums, Balboa Park, and Waterfront Park. Some trips travel farther from campus. Families receive detailed weekly schedules with instructions about clothing and what to bring.
Regular camp activities run during the school day. Three optional care arrangements extend the morning, afternoon, or both. Families choose the weekly program and care arrangement that fit their child’s grade and schedule.
The regular camp day runs from 8:30 AM to 3:15 PM. Morning devotions and an afternoon academic hour accompany themed activities. Each group visits a park weekly, and Adventure Camp has an off-campus activity during most weeks. Optional care starts as early as 7:30 AM and finishes as late as 5:15 PM, depending on the arrangement selected.
Pack lunch, snacks, and a labeled water bottle every day. Children in after-camp care need enough snacks for the afternoon. Lunches should travel in an insulated container with ice packs because campers cannot use refrigerators or microwaves. Disposable sack lunches work well for outings. Glass containers should stay at home.
Families provide walking-trip permission and keep emergency contacts current. Classrooms have posted evacuation routes and emergency backpacks. Fire, earthquake, and lockdown procedures guide the school’s response to emergencies. Parents need a plan to collect their child when it is safe to do so.
Medical information and emergency contacts must be on file before a child attends. Staff keep first-aid supplies for minor cuts and abrasions. Parents are contacted during emergencies, with emergency services called when needed. Medication stays in the school office in its original labeled container and requires written authorization. An assigned staff member administers authorized medicine.
Most camp staff are City Tree K–8 teachers and school-year assistants. Substitute staff and volunteers also help with the summer program.
Weekly email updates keep families informed about camp news and activities. Camp leaders use Brightwheel for messages and changes to off-campus plans. Families also receive detailed weekly schedules so they know which clothes and supplies their child will need.
Bring lunch, snacks, water, a backpack, and sunscreen, with belongings labeled. Comfortable clothing and closed-toed walking shoes suit the active day. Families use Brightwheel to sign campers in and out. The school entrance is on Third Avenue. Check the weekly outing schedule for any alternative drop-off or pickup arrangements; some farther trips may require parents to help with transportation.
Registration fees and session deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Weekly payment is due one week before attendance. Late payment can incur an additional fee and may result in the space being released to a child on the waiting list.
