Young artists build comics from the first idea to a finished page, with different tracks for kids and older campers. In Kidz Comic Camp, ages 7–11 work through character development, comic storytelling, penciling, inking, and coloring. Each camper works toward a comic story of their own. Older campers can choose Dungeons & Dragons and Comics, where character creation and a tabletop campaign become the starting point for an original comic. A separate Dark Academia-themed D&D and comics option is offered for ages 17 and up.
The program takes place at Little Fish Comic Book Studio, an educational nonprofit focused on comic arts. Its broader teaching approach combines traditional art-school standards, comic-industry practice, and a relaxed studio setting. Campers work in a space built around comics, with access to a large collection of comic books and graphic novels that reflects the studio’s focus on visual storytelling. The studio’s mission also emphasizes helping students develop their skills at a pace that works for them.
This camp is a strong fit for children and teens who enjoy drawing, inventing characters, telling stories, or combining role-playing games with art. The Kidz track gives younger campers a guided path through the comic-making process, while the D&D tracks add collaborative play and story development for older participants.

Little Fish Camps use comic creation as the central project. In Kidz Comic Camp, ages 7–11 begin with core comic storytelling concepts, including how panels work. From there, campers develop characters and move through the practical stages of making a page: penciling, inking, and coloring. The goal is a completed comic story that each child can call their own, and materials for this track are included.
For older campers, Dungeons & Dragons and Comics blends role-playing with art. Participants create characters, take part in a D&D campaign led by Assistant Lead Teaching Artist Serena Leitner, and then create a comic based on what happened during the game. This structure lets the shared adventure become source material for each camper’s visual story.
The Dark Academia LGBTIA+ Oneshot is a separate D&D-and-comics option for ages 17 and up. Campers create characters, play through a themed one-shot adventure, and make a comic about it. Previous art or comic-making experience is recommended for this specific track. Across the programs, the focus stays on making, storytelling, and learning comic-art processes in a studio built around the medium.
