Campers spend their time at Ocean Beach learning how to read waves, handle a surfboard, and build practical ocean awareness through repeated coaching and water time. The surf-camp program welcomes ages 5–17 and groups surfers by skill level, with a published 3:1 surfer-to-instructor ratio. Sessions can be half day or full day, giving families a choice of how much time a child spends practicing while keeping the focus on surfing fundamentals.
Each camp day starts with safety talks and stretching before moving into a specific focus. Across the week, instruction covers water safety, surf etiquette, wave selection, ocean knowledge, catching and reading waves, free surfing, and more advanced techniques. Instructors demonstrate skills, then campers practice them in the water and work toward catching waves more independently. Professional instructors are CPR certified, and the provider also states that its surf-camp team is licensed and permitted by the City of San Diego and certified in water safety, first aid, and CPR.
Surfboards and wetsuits are provided, along with snacks, camp photos, and a T-shirt. Friday includes a pizza celebration. The Ocean Beach setting gives campers direct access to a coastal surf environment used for both land-based safety instruction and in-water practice, making the program best suited to children who want a structured, hands-on introduction to surfing or more guided time developing existing skills.
