Learning to surf is the center of each camp day, with kids and teens spending their time at the beach under the guidance of certified surf instructors. The program is designed for ages 7–17 and welcomes beginners as well as campers who already have some experience. Instruction is adjusted to each student’s age and skill level, so children can work on the fundamentals at a pace that fits them while staying focused on ocean safety and awareness. No prior surf experience is required, making the program accessible to first-time campers.
Campers practice with provided surfboards, wetsuits, UV-protection rash guards, and leashes. Small classes are limited to four students per instructor, giving participants regular coaching and supervision in the water. The camp also introduces ocean environmental awareness and the practical knowledge that supports surfing, including board positioning, wave knowledge, and safe behavior around the water.
Families can choose shorter multi-day formats or a full five-day experience, with morning, afternoon, and full-day summer schedules. Five-day campers have additional Friday traditions that include a surf competition, pizza party, award ceremony, and camp T-shirt. The overall format suits children who want an active beach-based camp, enjoy learning a physical skill through hands-on practice, and are comfortable participating in supervised ocean activities.

The camp is organized as a surf-focused day program with two-, three-, and five-day options. Schedules include morning, afternoon, and full-day formats, with five-day camps running Monday through Friday, three-day camps Monday through Wednesday, and two-day camps Thursday and Friday. Summer sessions run from June through August. Campers ages 7–17 can join at different skill levels, including those who have never surfed before. Each option keeps the focus on surfing practice and skill development.
Instruction is adapted to each camper’s age and surfing ability. Campers learn with professional instructors who are certified in CPR and lifeguarding, and classes are limited to a 1:4 instructor-to-student ratio. The program combines surfing practice with ocean safety, environmental awareness, board knowledge, and guidance on positioning and catching waves. Surfboards, wetsuits, UV-protection rash guards, and leashes are provided for camp use.
The five-day format adds a Friday finish to the regular surf instruction. Full-week campers take part in a friendly surf competition and award ceremony, receive a Pacific Surf School T-shirt, and share a pizza party. These extras are specific to the five-day camp and are not listed for the shorter options.
Campers should bring water and snacks, and children staying for the full day should also bring lunch. Five-day campers receive a Friday pizza party as part of the full-week camp experience.
Camp classes are limited to four students per instructor. Surf instructors and camp leaders are qualified ocean lifeguards with CPR and Red Cross training, and the program teaches ocean safety as part of surf instruction. Students need to be able to swim with their head above water and reach shore; smaller children and weaker swimmers are kept in shallow water with instructors present. Camp may be rescheduled or refunded at the school’s discretion when harsh weather or rain affects operations.
Camp instruction is led by experienced surf instructors who work with children at different ages and skill levels. Instructors hold professional surf-instructor credentials along with CPR and lifeguard certifications. Staff requirements include current American Red Cross lifeguard certification, current CPR/First Aid certification, water-safety certification, at least five years of personal surfing experience, demonstrated surfing ability on a soft-top board, and good communication skills. Camp classes are limited to a 1:4 instructor-to-student ratio. Instructors also tailor coaching to each camper’s age and skill level.
Campers should arrive prepared for a beach program with swimwear, sun protection, a towel, water or drinks, a snack, and a change of clothes; a sweater or light layer is also recommended in case the weather changes. Full-day campers should bring lunch. Campers must be picked up promptly at the end of each day, with a five-minute grace period before late-pickup charges begin. Parking can take extra time, so families should plan ahead for arrival.
Camp cancellations must be made by email at least 72 hours before the start of camp for a refund, less a $100 non-refundable deposit per person, per camp. Changes within 72 hours of camp start are not eligible for refunds or reschedules.
