Active days outdoors shape the experience at SD Youth Camp. Campers ages 6-13 take part in sports, games, team building, swimming, field trips, and other group activities, with the program operating outside for most of the day. The camp is based at Allied Garden Recreation Center, and the schedule runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with optional extended care before and after regular hours.
The program emphasizes participation with the group. Campers are expected to listen to instructions, stay with their group, and follow behavior rules designed around safe participation. Staff are First Aid and CPR trained. Published group sizes generally range from 10 to 32 campers, with staff-to-camper ratios ranging from 1:8 to 1:12 depending on the ages in the group. When extreme weather changes the outdoor plan, staff may use indoor or shaded areas of the facility.
Families should plan for an active day. Campers bring a non-perishable lunch, snack, and water bottle, and the camp does not provide meals or snacks or have the capacity to heat or refrigerate lunch items. Closed-toe shoes and socks are required. Swimming days call for a swimsuit, towel, and sandals for the trip to the pool. Field-trip transportation is provided by van or bus.

The regular camp day runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Optional extended care is available from 8:00 to 9:00 AM and again from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Normal drop-off takes place at the recreation field between 9:00 and 9:30 AM, and pickup is handled at the recreation field after the camp day. Registration is first-come, first-served and must be completed before drop-off.
Campers move through an active outdoor program built around sports, games, team building, swimming, field trips, and related group activities. The camp says its programs are designed to operate outside for the majority of each day. If extreme weather requires a change, indoor or shaded areas may be used and planned activities may be adjusted.
Daily preparation is practical: campers bring a non-perishable lunch, snack, and water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes with socks. For scheduled swimming, families should send a swimsuit, towel, and sandals for the pool trip. Campers are expected to follow staff instructions, remain with their group, and keep hands and feet to themselves. For field trips and other transportation needs, the camp uses vans or buses and publishes vehicle-inspection and driver-qualification requirements.
Campers bring their own food each day. Families are asked to send a healthy non-perishable lunch, a snack, and a water bottle, and campers should eat breakfast before arrival. SD Youth Camp does not provide meals or snacks. The camp also says it cannot heat or refrigerate lunch items, so food should be packed with those limits in mind.
Camp rules require children to listen to instructions, stay with their group, and keep hands and feet to themselves. Serious or repeated behavior issues can lead to suspension or expulsion and immediate pickup by an authorized adult. Staff are First Aid and CPR trained. For transportation, the camp says vans and buses are inspected daily, periodically checked by a licensed mechanic and the California Highway Patrol, and driven by people with Class B licenses and/or School Bus Certificates. During extreme weather, staff may move activities to indoor or shaded areas and adjust the planned schedule.
Registration includes a health-history section covering conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, allergies, inhalers, EpiPens, behavioral challenges, dietary restrictions, past operations or serious injuries, and limits on physical activity. Families are asked about immunizations, health insurance, and the child’s doctor. The form also asks parents to list medications, and it states that a separate medication-information form is required for medicines administered at camp. These forms are intended to give staff information relevant to the child’s care during camp.
Staff are First Aid and CPR trained. Camp groups generally range from 10 to 32 campers, and the published staff-to-camper ratio ranges from 1:8 to 1:12 depending on the ages within the group. The camp’s contact page identifies a Camp Manager and a Camp Leader along with additional team members.
