A sketch can become a bag, an accessory, or a wearable garment as campers learn how fashion ideas move from paper to fabric. The program combines creative design with the mechanics of sewing, giving young makers a practical way to explore shape, proportion, construction order, fabric handling, and function. Campers work with hand-stitching techniques and sewing machines, then apply those skills to real projects rather than following only decorative craft steps.
Week-long campers attend a three-hour session each day for five days, choosing either a morning or afternoon time. The instruction is beginner-friendly, with small-group support and a progression from foundational stitches and machine operation toward more independent construction. Projects can include a hand-sewn starter piece, a functional bag or accessory, a custom-designed item, and a wearable garment such as a skirt or top. All materials and equipment needed for the program are provided.
The format suits children who enjoy making things, experimenting with clothing and accessories, or learning how design decisions connect to math and engineering ideas. Fashion work gives campers a practical connection to measurement, proportion, geometry, symmetry, angles, ratios, and spatial relationships. Campers therefore get both a creative studio experience and a structured introduction to the technical thinking behind garment design.

The program is built around a progression from basic sewing skills to finished fashion projects. Campers begin with foundational hand stitches and learn how sewing construction works in sequence. They are introduced to sewing-machine operation, including threading, straight seams, fabric handling, and safe use of the machine. Design thinking is woven into the work so campers consider how shape, fabric, function, and construction choices affect the finished piece.
In the week-long format, campers attend one three-hour session per day for five days. Rather than completing one repeated craft, they build toward several kinds of projects: a hand-sewn starter piece, a functional bag or accessory, a custom-designed item, and a wearable garment such as a skirt or top. Returning students have room to keep developing skills, while beginners can start without prior sewing experience.
Instruction takes place in a small-group studio setting with personalized support. The broader Shapes to Forms approach also connects fashion design with practical math concepts such as measurement, proportion, geometry, symmetry, angles, ratios, and spatial relationships, helping campers see the technical thinking behind turning a two-dimensional idea into a three-dimensional form.
Week-long campers attend one three-hour session per day for five days, choosing either a morning or afternoon time. The week moves from foundational hand sewing and sewing-machine operation into construction skills and finished projects. Campers work toward a hand-sewn starter piece, a functional bag or accessory, a custom design, and a wearable garment, while reinforcing construction order, straight seams, finishing details, and decisions about shape, fabric, and function.
Campers learn to use a sewing machine safely as part of hands-on instruction. Machine skills include threading, straight seams, fabric handling, construction order, and finishing. The small-group format provides personalized guidance while campers build practical sewing skills and work toward finished fashion projects.
Camp is offered in a small-group format with personalized support, and instructors may vary by week. Shapes to Forms was founded by Diana, whose background includes engineering, finance, fashion study, sewing-instructor certification, and teaching at local schools. That combination reflects the program’s blend of creative design and technical problem-solving.
Families choose a three-hour morning or afternoon session when booking. The week-long option runs for five days, while the flexible one-day format allows registration for one Monday, two consecutive days, or three consecutive days. All materials and equipment needed for the camp are provided for use during the session. Registration is completed through the Shapes to Forms enrollment system.
For in-person courses, cancellations more than 10 days before the start date receive a full refund. Cancellations fewer than 10 days before the start date receive 50%, and no refund is available after the course begins.
