Teamtouche Fencing Camp

Teamtouche Fencing Camp

San Diego, CA, USA

Overview

Fencing camp at Team Touché gives campers a hands-on introduction to a sport built around movement, timing, tactics, and precise blade work. Beginner programming centers on epee fencing with a light-hearted teaching approach, while other seasonal options on the camp calendar include foil, sabre, three-weapon training, and preparation for major competitions. Campers use dedicated fencing equipment rather than improvised gear, and the beginner program includes electric scoring equipment so students can experience the sport in a structured training setting.

The camp lineup is designed to accommodate different kinds of fencers. New participants can start with beginner-focused instruction, while more experienced athletes may choose competition-oriented options such as Summer Nationals preparation or advanced foil training. A linked Future Champions camp has also paired Team Touché athletes with visiting international coaches and high-level youth fencers for focused training, goal setting, and additional bout experience. Linked YMCA fencing programs add child and teen options, including technique work, footwork, blade work, and controlled sparring at the Team Touché facility.

Team Touché supplies fencing safety equipment for camp participation, and new campers are also offered sparring equipment. Campers are asked to arrive in closed-toed shoes and bring a snack and drink; a water bottle station is available. The result is a camp experience centered on actually fencing, learning how the weapons and scoring work, and building skills through coached practice.

Program

Team Touché organizes its summer fencing program as a set of distinct camp options. Beginner Camp is aimed at students who are new to fencing and introduces epee with a light-hearted approach and electric scoring equipment. The broader camp calendar also includes foil and sabre programs, a three-weapon option, and Summer Nationals preparation for fencers who are training toward competition. Some camps are held directly at Team Touché, while selected vendor programs are offered with partner organizations.

Advanced offerings can be more specialized. The linked Future Champions camp has focused on serious young fencers preparing for Summer Nationals, with training alongside visiting international athletes and coaches. That program uses goals and check-ins to structure development and includes coached bouting plus a private lesson with a visiting coach or athlete. A linked YMCA teen fencing option takes place at the Team Touché facility and emphasizes technique-driven training, including advanced footwork, blade work, strategy, precision, and controlled sparring with Olympic-grade equipment.

Program choice therefore matters: a first-time camper may enter through beginner fencing, while an experienced fencer can select a camp built around a weapon, competitive preparation, or higher-level training. Equipment and session details vary by option, but the common focus is coached fencing practice.
