The United States Youth Volleyball League (USYVL) is a nonprofit organization devoted to teaching children the fundamentals of volleyball in a positive and inclusive environment. With programs held across the country, USYVL focuses on skill-building, teamwork, and sportsmanship rather than competition and rankings. Kids ages 7 to 15 learn through age-appropriate drills and games, guided by trained volunteer coaches who emphasize fun and personal growth over winning.
The atmosphere is upbeat and supportive, encouraging kids to build confidence while improving their coordination and communication skills. Practices and games are structured to allow every player equal playing time, ensuring that no child feels left out. USYVL’s mission is not only to develop young athletes but to nurture a lifelong love for the game. The league’s approach— rooted in community, respect, and joy — makes it a fantastic option for kids who thrive in a cooperative and active setting.

USYVL puts safety at the heart of every game and practice. All coaches and site directors are trained to provide a secure and positive playing environment, focusing on skill progression to minimize risk of injury. Safety guidelines are followed rigorously —from proper warm-ups and cool-downs to ensuring that equipment and court conditions meet youth sports standards.
Parents are encouraged to stay involved, and many volunteer alongside league staff to maintain clear supervision during all sessions. The program’s structure keeps group sizes small, allowing coaches to give individualized attention and maintain safe ratios. By combining structured instruction with close oversight, USYVL gives parents confidence that their children are safe, active, and well cared for while having a great time.
USYVL celebrates community and teamwork more than competition. Every season ends with a family-friendly event, where all players are recognized for their progress and participation. The emphasis on equal playing time and positive coaching helps foster a spirit of encouragement that becomes its own tradition — kids cheer each other on, celebrate good sportsmanship, and take pride in their team’s growth.
These shared moments — laughing over rallies, supporting teammates, and celebrating milestones — build a tradition of inclusion that keeps families returning season after season. USYVL’s culture isn’t about trophies; it’s about the joy of playing together and learning something new in every match.
The USYVL program combines skill instruction, team play, and fun challenges to help kids build a strong foundation in volleyball. Each week blends drills that develop serving, passing, setting, and hitting with scrimmages designed to encourage teamwork and fair play. Practices focus on technique and strategy, while games let kids put their skills into action in a friendly, encouraging environment.
Coaches emphasize participation over performance, helping each player progress at their own pace. The result? Kids gain athletic confidence, make new friends, and learn lessons in collaboration that reach far beyond the court.
